Second in the Halloween series. This time, looking at Survival Horror. The genre was born from the 1989 game, Sweet Home, but would become established by the early entries of the Alone in the Dark franchise, before becoming famous thanks to Resident Evil and Silent Hill. What makes Survival Horror so scary? Generally the sense that you are trapped somewhere, surrounded on all sides by creatures that want to kill you and while you have a chance to fight back, supplies are limited and each choice made can drastically affect your chances of making it out alive. Death awaits every turn.
In this case, I took a little inspiration from Resident Evil and some folk horror, as the two actually work well together and imagined a character on a tour of a remote area. Oddly, one that sees a high chance of people going missing. Perhaps her bike breaks down. Perhaps by accident or something more sinister. But unfortunately for her, the village she finds herself in has a secret. A beast prowls the night and to protect themselves, the villagers offer a sacrifice, a stranger for their children, a fair price to them after all. Now, our hero must survive the beast and the villagers who will make sure that a sacrifice is had and their secret remains safe.

Ya see, me an' ol' Handy go waaay back, an' he tol' me all about you an' what ya done to him. So, like I said, I know what ya done to Handy, and I know what to watch out for. If yer thinkin' a pullin' any of them stunts like that with me? Well hell. I think y'all know what the phrase 'Fuck around and find out' means, amIright?
Oh, and if yer afraid of ol' Charlie here? Heck, he ain't no threat to you boys. In fact, he's here for YOUR protection. Don't get me wrong, he'll step in if it looks like I'm gettin' my ass whooped, but he knows me an' my temper. I ain't one fer puttin' up with no one's stupidity, so you start actin' like a fool, yer gonna find out what it feels like to get a size four boot up yer sorry asses. Charlie here is jus' gonna make sure I don' go find a two by four ta knock the sense inta yer thick heads that yer daddy shoulda put there.
