where every sound was a scream,
every glance a blade.
Mild, they say,
as if this storm is gentle,
as if the battlefield of my mind
does not quake with unspoken screams.
I stand on the edge of the void,
darkness coiled around my ankles,
Hell whispering my name like a lullaby.
Lucifer smiles,
a mirror to the demons I wrestle—
not devils with horns,
but shadows of myself,
reflections of every doubt,
every tear swallowed whole.
Six years,
and the fire still lingers in my veins.
I was remade not once,
but again and again,
each year a layer of skin
peeled back,
burned away,
and left to scar.
The first was silence,
a graveyard of who I had been.
The second, anger,
a howl that split the night.
The third was surrender,
a letting go of what I could not hold.
By the fourth,
I learned to crawl from the wreckage,
hands bloodied but steady.
The fifth brought the whispers of light,
small and flickering,
but real.
And now the sixth—
a place where the past lingers,
but no longer owns me.
I wear these years like armor,
not unscathed,
but unbroken.
Reborn, again,
and again,
and again.
