Would anyone be able to provide some some general advice based on this render?
I'm a bit stuck on how to further improve my renders.
I generally use 3 point lighting, HDRI and some environmental lighting. Then, I'll do some basic editing and color correction in photoshop as seen here.
Hi there! First of all the render is great as it stands, the only thing I might change if I'd want to make the render look more natural is this:
If this is a day scene: I'd try to locate my characters near a window and try to shine some ''natural light'' into the room using a good HDRI dome or even a ghost light to emit a slight yellowy light. Maybe play around with some godrays if it's early morning. But those can be an hassle to setup.
If this is a night scene: Usually at night, not every lights are on in the house and that creates a lot of shadows. I'd turn off some lights and concentrate the light emission on the characters. Maybe one or two weak lights on way off in the background if possible. Also at night I like to taint the light a bit dark blueish, makes the characters pop off in my opinion.
Now that being said, your render is great as it is, these changes are only what I'd do in my humble opinion. Don't be afraid to experiment, you might stumble onto something you really like!
Happy rendering my friend!
Have a great time rendering!
