Sadly, most of the times I have to do Post Work, because I use an old Laptop to render and I can't experiment with lighting, some times I get too much light or shit like that, also, I render a lot of scenes by sections, like using Canvas, then I put them all together using GIMP.
Yes, you are absolutely right, post-work is essential if you have hardware limitations or complex scenes that need to be made, here is an example.

I have pretty decent machine and my gpu can handle rendering most stuff, but for this I had to render by sections, use instances, use lower texture quality,etc. All the tricks in the book that I know, I used them on this render.
So yes, I agree with what your're saying, for some people post-work is a necessity not an "artistic" choice.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; you really did a fantastic job putting together that 7-11 (and really all the various sets you do for your game). You have good renders and character designs, but the sets I've found very impressive.
