It turned out that the model and the clothes did not have the same SubD value. Once I fixed that, everything is fine now. Otherwise, I'm not really sure how to apply the solution recommended by Coral's Dream . For the simple reason that I'm not really sure where those settings are... LOL. Considering that I got a satisfactory result in the end, I'll think about those settings tomorrow. After all... tomorrow is another day.
