Normally I do figure that the dev decides to blow off the game due to greed and a lack of ethics. That is based on 100s of abandoned games on here. However, we know the update was very close to completion so it makes more sense to release the update and then ghost everyone in order to string out monetization for a much longer period.

Maybe he was finding it hard to complete it (writer's block, animations being hard to do, etc) and said fuck it.
End of the day no one know why he abandoned the game, pointless to speculate unless you knew the dev personally.

Devs who are doing that also tend to post on Patreon every few months to make it seem like they are doing something. I know devs who keep the con going for years on end with that method.

But this game didn't have much support anyway. So ripping off supporters doesn't seem to be the prime factor in the disappearance.

Don't think anyone ever accused the dev of trying to con or milk subs, this would be a disastrous way to do it, as you point out.

Yes, except in that discord post he said that all renders were finished and he just had some dialogue and sound effects to complete. And considering the writing in this game, I don't think writer's block was an issue for Hot Tomato, quite the opposite actually.

We also know that this wasn't bullshit and that the update was nearly done based on what Ruykiru eventually released.

Hot Tomato posted 28 times on Subscribestar between July and September 2024, representing very heavy engagement with subscribers and including a bunch of teaser posts for the update in the final week of September. This doesn't support the idea he was contemplating abandonment.

His final Subscribestar post was Sep 25 and his final discord message was the same day.

I think it is perfectly valid to speculate on the abandonment of this game when there are people such as yourself who directly accuse the dev of lacking "decency". Given the available evidence, this is one of the few times where I'm convinced that negative life events are a very real possibility.

Yes, you basically summarised in the last two messages why I think the worst.
I will tell you, however, that the dev wasn't earning much from this so he told me he had to work a lot IRL. Maybe he simply decided to go back to doing what he always did to support him and the parents. Idk. I can't really blame him with the way most loud players treated him in the forums.

One thing is certain: games have their pros and cons, but if every DV started out with something they had in mind and then decided to change it after the criticism, no one would finish any game.... You should have continued with your ntr tag and continued with what you had in mind. I guarantee you would have gotten more support from the few than from the many who hate it.

Well here we are, at the end my premonition came to pass and this project is all but gone. It began with the exclusion of the monster scenes and the war in your patreon between those who wanted them and those who didn't. Your reasoning back then was that people focused too much on the H-scenes and not enough in the story when really, we could have all enjoyed both. Then you went after the NTR and saw another massive kickback. And where are you now? when you bled supporters for your poor decisionmaking, when you turned your back on the many for the few? Where is your story now? I'll remind you. In the sea of abandoned projects wallowing in solitude. This could have been a gem. But you chose to kick the ladder many of us wish you could have taken.

I'm not sure if he will want to do it. Many people on this site didn't like it when Ruykiru updated the game, according to the dev. They might have wanted darker scenes and NTR. With so much criticism for the dev and the helpers, I'm not sure what the future holds for this game. Lets just hope the other dev can do it after he finishes his game which might take year.

Personaly I don't like NTR I like the corruption of the girl and have played few games just for that I'm still trying to understand the fetish around it (Maybe write a story about it cause it's a popular genre that makes money) but if the game had it as a bad ending choices I wouldn't mind because I had the choice to avoid it and the fans of NTR has a chance to engange in it so it's a win win personaly I don't think that this game had low supporters because of the NTR I think it was about the marketing and also the ban that he got from Patreon going to the subscribe star I believe that he had less supporters than patreon then posting every now and then plus the leaks on this forum resulted in less subscibers take Ruykiru game for example this game blew up because from what I believe he was posting an update of the game almost every month and now he has reached his goal of 1k

So yeah I don't think that the game was bad it was perfect and I don't think that it was failing it had decent amount of supporters I think that he made 600 to 800 $ a month I think its a good amount of money but maybe that was not the reason he stopped maybe he is on hiatus or maybe something bad has happend to him (Hope he is okay though) we can never know

I didn't add any content that wasn't made by the main developer before he disappeared. All the renders in 0.9 were made by HotTomato. I simply didn't have the rest of what was planned to be released for this update.
