First time player in this game and... it feels kinda rough. I found very few quests, no orientation of what to do and it required quite an effort and the wiki to even know where I could go to sleep and take a shower.
So here I'm going to give a few recommendations that I feel could help a lot new players:
-When asking NPC's where to live, please just let them comment possible apartments and that the thule people can help you with that, my quality of life in this game improved so hard after getting the free bed in thule.
-Add some hints about how to continue a quest, I get stuck so many times in everything... can't seem to be able to rescue Kila, can't find the origin of sounds in apartment 2 east street, don't even know how to meet most of the NPC's people talk about.
Overall it could also be solved by having a much more complete wiki, it's just insane for new player's to find most of the games potential and current stuff.
-For the love of democracy, give some special colour to non generic NPC's so that we can identify them more easily, just with this tiny change many players will tend to interact more with important NPC's and most probably unlock more quests.

In 4.9 the load save screen from the splash page isn't working. In-game it works fine after continuing last save though.
This is my first update since 4.3 and the NPC gender settings seem really buggy/unfinished to me.

- After setting the overall gender % for normal NPCs, editing the specific NPC settings at the bottom is a huge pain. Also noticing that these will change as you adjust the gender% sliders above which doesn't make a lot of sense - A: even if one of the top sliders is set to 0% it should be possible to make an exception manually, B: if a slider is at 10%, there should be nothing stopping all of the important NPCs to belong in that group.
- From looking at the data it seems that all NPCs are ordered alphabetically and the gender% are applied in order - so if you have 40% male NPCs, since male is first in the list, the first 40% of NPCs alphabetically become male. This also explains why changing the sliders change important NPCs - they simply switched buckets due to the above algorithm. Overall I think this is a very bad solution and it shouldn't be difficult at all from a coding perspective to shuffle NPCs before randomizing their gender.

The only thing I found on Tanja/Reign is East Street House 3 in the save editor, but every time I try to go to the house, I just get met with a "Go away, freak!" no matter time of day or how well dressed I am.
Edit: Tried starting a new file, happened to find Reign in North Street by approaching people. He's a man in his 20s, and then you can get the dialogue with him to take over.

I have no NPCs, except at the construction site. The little box at the bottom right never pops up, except for random encounters (but then they are all 'anonymous'). Almost all the businesses are always closed, and all sorts of other stuff. Brand new game.
I'm wondering if the auto-saves I can't delete (where are they stored, ffs?) and do not appear to be getting overwritten are the problem? If I load one of them, there are NPCs, but there's all sorts of other problems, naturally.

more than on way, you can steal it from de detective agency, from the food processing center, find a blank then inscribe it, get caught by the police, ask one of the synapse in west street after saying you don't have one...
just click continue or start a new game, then you can load game it's broken since 0.4.7 or 0.4.8
The fact that you have to add NPCs to the sex customization one by one, manually, is infuriating. There needs to be an "add all" option.
If you're loading an old save file, that's why.
Files get broken nearly every update. Expect huge bugs or it being outright unplayable if you don't start over every new version.
You... don't? You can just click "Male" if you want everyone to male for example. If you want everyone to be female, then click female. This applies to the random NPCs too, not just the important ones.
The "Set Ratio" % is the % of the random NPCs that are X gender, not the named ones. The named ones you can see below. Note how I don't have any of the random people added to the list and it still says 100% with one click.
I get that, but if you want to individually choose for all NPCs, you still have to go through and add them all to the list. You can make the wall X% red, Y% green, and Z% blue, but if I want to specifically pick which color of paint goes on each individual section of the wall, I have to add each of them one by one. All I'm saying is that there should be an "add all to list" option.
I guess the question is more "do you really need to do that?". Just pick the flavor you like the best, sprinkle in other flavors you enjoy, and don't worry so much about doing everyone a certain way. Do you really need Random NPC #85 who you only encounter if you specifically go to their house and they're not unique in any way to be a specific gender?
Sometimes I'm glad I'm gay, so I can just 100% Male and not worry about it, lol. I get that you definitely like more flavors than one (otherwise, why would we be having this convo), but I think you're overthinking it just a touch. Pretty much all of the important people are pre-built into the list. You really don't need to individually tweak *EVERY* single NPC.
