Yes I did manage to get it to work by adding the missing values in mech_events file in the game folder I haven't noticed any problems so far

It's not Ctrl, it's the Skip Dialogue function. If you set it on, the dialogue bugs out and skips you straight to the end as if you finished the game, sending you back to the main menu accordingly. Disable it and you'll be able to play normally.
