I'll admit I know I'm most likely in the minority for this. I guess it's mostly cause I feel a majority of these furry romance/sex games feature a human protagonist. And I have always found them lacking in character or style. 99% of the time it's the same milquetoast white guy. And if I wanted a milquetoast white guy I can just look in the mirror.
I just think that having a furry protag and possibly playing up the unique quirks they're species has can make for a more engaging PC than another game where it's all "Wow, you humans sure have amazing dicks"
If this game is unique amongst its peers and adds something new and genuine to the rest of the Human Male X Anthro Female games then let it thrive and become an example of what to strive for. I will just choose to not play it.
My short observation would be that it's more that 90% of romance/sex games have a milquetoast protagonist because they want to appeal to everyone than whether they're a human or an anthro dude, or just flat out bad writing.
Obviously selection bias, since I've only seen the writing of games like Furry Hitler 1&2(I somehow doubt this is a solid reference point, lmao), in games like that the Furry MC feels like a human in a fursuit, to put it bluntly. I've also seen some LitErotic type stories and again, seems like the MC is either just a dude who occasionally has a mention about his tail, or comes off like a thug stereotype stating how he smells a bitch in heat and how he's gonna knot her.
I agree that making a human MC just for "wow human cock so good" tier coomer shit is equally over the top/bad and/or lazy writing, but some people geninuely enjoy that stuff when it comes to the genre (I do too, but it's like an unhealthy comfort meal you have once/twice a season type thing for me.) Again, using this logic means some people probably like a wolf MC who smells bitches in heat and knots them. Different strokes, not so different you and I, ect ect.
Again. Limited knowledge bank on my part. There's probably a bunch of Furry MCs where the characters species actually is written in a clever way and replacing them with a human wouldn't just not work solely on a worldbuilding aspect but fundamentally alter the character. Espeically since I know several human PCs who couldn't be replaced with furry MCs without the same thing happening.
