This is a good observation. The quality and quantity of art is top notch but it also has diminishing returns imo. Like so much of it is just one-off, shown in one specific scene. How much time is it worth it to spend on art that gets shown only for like a few seconds? I know it's hard to change an artist's creative vision and doubt that they ever even read this post but something I've been thinking.
The main problem is the time & energy it takes to make this might result in burn out. Biannual updates that consist of 2-3 story beats per main love interest is a glacial pace for normal game development. This is a visual novel stapled onto the RPGMaker engine that's been in development for 3 years, and the recollection room is only half full.

Its gameplay is half-baked at best, and the world is generally dull and empty outside of the various character driven quests. There's no real gameplay that justifies an open world setting, when it's easier to just jump, Ren'Py style, from location to location. It's a weird choice to use RPGMaker and pour time and energy creating the world and populating it with NPCs, when there's no mechanics to engage with.

This update, while really nice, is a warning sign to me. By year 4 a game like this should be wrapping up its main storylines. Given the trajectory of the story, there's no greater tension point than him and Leslie- every side story is going to feel a lot lower stakes than that one. Once it's resolved, it's pretty easy to assume there's no woman Jon can't seduce. It's very easy to write an ultimate showdown between him and the main antagonist and wrap the whole project up. That way, if the creators grow sick of it, they can put it down and use their built-up fan base to fuel their next project.

I swear, Western adult game devs don't seem to get that they in fact build fanbases that will follow them from project to project. There's no need to stretch things out for most of a decade. Japanese porn devs get it, IDK why Western devs don't.

Playing V 6.5. And I have run into a game breaking glitch I cant get past.

The scene in issue is where Brandy takes you home from History Class. Specifically the scene on the map right before she takes you home and her mother almost catches you. The world map of several parts merge into one and makes it impossible to see where your character is on the map from then on. I have been able to progress a little bit through some more scenes by knowing where the markers are blindfolded, until you shortly get to a "find the item" quest which becomes impossible.

Yeah, I've started twice now and once the freeroam starts, I can go around town and meet people, but I can never go to school. I've played through an entire week, nothing happened. Skipped another week, nothing happened.

I've played this before and finished the game. What is going on?

The family focus was cool and all. It was good to finally have an update. Actually better than what I was expecting(which wasn't much other than to bang someone new), but this update was

I didn't come across that. Since a beta, it could have been triggered by a certain path or something you did. Unfortunately, Breadman will not answer any issues here until after the public release on the 18th.
the quest is called " the weekend" maybe helps abit

This subscribers vote for Brandy was fine, but I don't particular agree with voting poll decisions on what is done next in the game. Just my personal opinion that a good deal of small quests were needed in the last 2 updates. If it were me I wouldn't have the story focus on family so much, and would have spread it out. I'm not a creator, but feel this part of the family ark was too much for such a long awaited update. Too many empty calories in the game. You could explore 3/4's of the town and there was nothing new. It can get very tedious if you want to explore the town at all.

Yeah the shift to more vn style was noticeable in this update. Barely any new repeatable post-story content besides Brandy's scenes, which is a shame. Leslie's and Ash's new scenes would work well with few changes. Using the gallery is quite tiresome since it repeats the whole scene with past story and all.

It’s a meh update: Not bad, but the weakest so far. Considering that it took about 3000 to 6000 man-hours one might even call it lackluster (that would be 3 guys working 8 months on an average full time salary of 5000$+ each).

I’m a bit disappointed about Leslie’s story arc. A lot of build-up with very little gratification. Especially dad’s promotion from a clueless wuss to a villainous cock block was an unpleasant surprise. Him being such a dick makes Leslie’s romantic involvement with the MC feel more like an act of desperation than one of love.

However, the art and animations are still beautiful, sometimes even gorgeous, the writing is still excellent (especially when compared to other porn games), and it’s an overall pleasurable experience. Alas that’s only a bittersweet accomplishment considering that it took them 8 months to get there.

P.S.: Usually I pay them 10 bucks for each update via , this time it’s only 5. Otherwise I wouldn’t feel entitled to my light bitching.
