Last first - you're directing your "have some awareness" to the wrong peeps. I am completely aware but this being a forum for adult games doesn't mean that you throw out empathy when people have problems in their lives. Especially a creator who has been as accessible as BreadManGames. Again, it is telling if you value quicker updates on your spank bank than the well being of another human being, particularly if that human being is beloved by the developer (or the developer, themselves) you supposedly want to continue their work so you can toss a few more tissues in the trash. As for the passive aggressive part - I think ya'all need to look up what passive aggressive means. I'm simply aggressive. Period.
As for the side characters.. The stated goal of this game, through the contract the MC signs, is to get 30 women pregnant. It's been that way since day one. It was planned to have a lot of characters involved. If you don't like it, that's like saying you like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but hold the peanut butter.
Finally, while some developers use Subscribestar/Patreon to fund one project - that is not the stated mission of either of them nor their intended use. Their mission is to create a platform to support creators in whatever endeavor they wish to proceed with - whether one project or one hundred and one. If people want to support the endeavors, they subscribe. If they don't, they have the option to stop. When you say the off-topic opinion (off-topic because it doesn't apply to this game) "devs starting side projects nobody wants, slowing down updates" - if you're a subscriber, make your voice known either by using the official channels of the creators you're supporting or you can also use your voice by stop subscribing. However, judging by most developers' subscriber numbers - it seems there is quite a demand for some of those side projects, or at least enough who believe in the developers' visions that people are willing to keep subscribing to make it happen. Just because you don't want it -- or just because some people here on F95 do not -- doesn't mean that "nobody" wants it.
And yes, there are flaws with the subscriber model. I'm personally not a fan. However, a good portion of the games people enjoy that they download from F95 would never have existed if it were not for platforms like Patreon and Subscribestar because potential developers wouldn't have had the motivation without the possible payoff that might be available (even though the mean developer brings in about $100 per month and fewer than 10% bring in a living wage). Like I mentioned in a previous post, if it weren't for the subscribers for BreadManGames, he wouldn't have had the ability to make this a fulltime gig and hire Zakko and GhostMoth - then people like you would really be bitching about slow updates because BreadManGames would have to work a full-time job and only continue this as a hobby.
