Yeah, Maria and the Lab Stuff has been lacking in the story so far. JMO, one thing I'm not a fan off is paying Patreon subs getting to vote of which character gets the focus next in every other update release(it's every other update that has more family focus on the MC(default name Jon)). To me it breaks down the rhythm of the main story too much. Traditionally, when a game is created, it has an outlined story line/arc. I like this game a lot, but it lacks being fluid and having rhythm. 2nd issue I have is the time period it takes for each update. It's opinionated/debatable that the creator takes too long between updates. The game gets forgotten about it because of the length period of updates, and also the fact each update doesn't have a lasting play ability. Last is I think every update could be better with side quests of characters, whether it's the family update or a voted in character update. If it's too much to have multiple character side quests for each update, then at least change up the speaking dialogue with the people you can talk to, to make the characters in the game not so generic and boring.
