picks up at the end of v.02, the v.02.1 save skips the intro

Not sure what you mean - v.02 save should pick up at start of that version's content, v.03 save should pick up after all of v.02's content and before the new stuff. Are they the same save?

Both pick up right after the intro, because they are both the same link.

you might be missing something check you quest log to see if you are forgetting something
cause it worked for me just fine
