RPGM - Completed - Demons Roots [v1.03 + DLC] [Quick nail Aristocrat]

Hands down, the best (erorpg?) game I've ever played. Such flushed out characters, well-written story, and after finishing the game, I was filled with inexplanable emotions, one of them being : I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS TO MY NORMIE FRIENDS!!!!!
Craziest part is that I forgot its eroge part,the story had me hooked at the edge of the seat for the whole part, favorite game of the year to be completely honest.
Can't wait for another *masterpiece* from Quick Nail Aristocrat.

It's RPGM, it's extremely long, and just about unfappable. But if you can tolerate that, Demons Roots is a top-class masterwork in the vast ocean of pervy Japanese indie RPGM slop. Highly recommended.

It feels as if the author came up with different pieces of content over time, like certain characters, specific narratives, twists, and places. "I really want this thing in the game. And that thing! And we simply must have this!"

As a result, the story and world-building are quite scatterbrained, with many conflicting elements. But that's just part of the charm, because it's all tied together in some mad genius fashion. And somehow by the end, I found it all very satisfying.

This is a fantastic story with a lot of content to go through. Most of the other reviews will tell you just as much. One of my favorite quirks about this one though are the B&W manga-style panels that are drawn for some cutscenes. Finale is cliche as fuck but still well-done so I won't hold it against anyone.

For the R-18 portion, there is about half of the scenes being torture porn. It's not exactly my thing, but there is an entire continent dedicated to R-18 scenes of all of the characters that is normal/consentual so take that as you will. They're minimal and it's more erotica with a couple stills behind them.

This game is WORTH reviewing and I hope many others will enjoy it. The story,the character. You are gonna be hooked with the story.

Gameplay : While it is a RPGM turn based,it's not boring ,and provide challange for the player.

Sex Scene: While the art is good, I mostly skip the H part for the story.

Usually this site uploads random garbage sex games, but this is one of the few that's actually a real game, and a good one at that. Story wise it was interesting from the start all the way to the end, and you will actually care about the characters. Be warned though it is a dark/brutal game, but also fairly tame compared to CLOCKUP games as a comparison. The ryona/gore scenes were done in a more sexual/fetishistic way instead of being a case of ultra-violence shock value. Even after beating the game I'll come back to the gallery replayer since some of the scenes were very hot and make great jerk off material. 4/5 as an RPG and 5/5 as an H-game

This game is a masterpiece.


The gameplay itself isn’t the best and can get repetitive at times. Usually, it comes down to killing a bunch of enemies and then taking on the boss of the area. But the story this game tells makes it all worth it. The writing is absolutely amazing.


It’s not the kind of story where everything goes according to plan. There are plenty of hardships you will have to face. You’ll feel sad, angry, even empty, and sometimes you’ll just sit there wondering what the hell is going on. That’s exactly what makes it so special, so different from all the games that I’ve played.


The main character cast is just as good as the story. They aren’t empty soulless companions that are only in the game to unlock more h-scenes. Each one has their own goals, their own struggles, and their own story to tell, which makes them feel alive and memorable.


As for the ending. I don’t want to spoil anything, but for me it was phenomenal. I didn’t expect it at all, so many emotions in such a short time. It even made me tear up, and it’s going to stick with me for a long time.


This game made me realize things, made me feel a lot of different emotions, and I honestly recommend it to everyone. It deserves way more attention than it’s getting. So do yourself a favor and play Demons Roots.

After beating MGQP. I was looking for a JRPG story driven game. And I found Demon Roots. Now I usually like games that features a male protag. But fir this game it doesn't matter because that's how good the story is. This is One of the greatest JRPG story I have ever played. Even the ending made me emotional.

There are a lot of JRPG with multimillion dollar budget that doesn't even hold a candle to Demon Roots in terms of story.

This is a must play game if you are a JRPG fan looking for a story driven game that have a great story.

Its a great RPG, what makes it unique from most rpgmaker is the different approach you can build and swap with your teams, its possible to find 1 character with 3 different roles, and theres around 7 characters to test out with Polka.
The endgame are the toughest I've ever known.
The seggs scene could use more vanilla yuri imo

5 stars, but it's a complicated 5 stars.

This is a real serious jRPG. The story is very good, even if I'm not fond of a few developments mostly centered around the character of Diana and how she came to be in the world (without going into spoilers), and even if the writers likes his deus ex coincidences too much. The worldbuilding is solid, and the characters well fleshed out. If this weren't a porn game in RPG Maker, it'd be a shining example of independent RPG gaming.

But it is both a porn game and an RPG Maker game so let's talk about these two aspects.

RPG Maker wise, there's only so much you can do really. The game is carefully balanced around its progression and it works, so far as such a thing can, but it's seriously weighted down by it. The game's base gameplay loop outside of the talky bits is dungeon crawling and it just drags on with all the speedbump encounters. It's just not something that can be escaped so unfortunately it's instead something to endure. Grinding isn't really a thing at least (and if you ever find yourself grinding in an RPG Maker game anyway just edit the save game and save yourself the time, seriously), but even without it the number of encounters you'll have is insane and they just drag. Very sad indeed.

For the porn, it's complicated. It mostly comes in three ways - the Good Bundle (nice or nice-ish scenes on demand in a Magical Pervert Kingdom), the Bad Bundle (an onslaught of Really Bad Stuff happening in the slave camp you can get yourself locked up in, which is a mechanically interesting puzzle dungeon of horrors), and the occasional event during the story. The scenes themselves are just a static image with advancing text underneath, with minimal changes as the scene progresses. Simple stuff but w/e, it generally more or less works. The images are well made. But other than the two batches, they're usually too infrequent to make the whole thing work as proper porn. If this is what you're playing the game for, you may be disappointed.

A personal feeling about the porn scenes is that the porn often works at cross-purposes with the story. It makes perfect sense that things that happen would happen, but the game goes out of its way to flesh out the characters and make them likeable and then come the scenes where the sexual things that happen to them are outright traumatic (especially if you go down the Bad End route with getting locked up in the slave camp). It's just too depressing to be sexy unless I suppose one is really into that sort of thing. I'm not and I can't quite imagine the mindspace required to make it work, so to me it just didn't, not as porn. It did work as effective worldbuilding though.

All these are serious complications on this 5 star rating. It's carried by the strength of the story, worldbuilding and characters alone, and they're strong enough to get that 5 and carry it despite being so weighted down. Just for them I'm giving this rating to it. If you're interested in a really solid Real jRPG here, solid enough to overcome the above, this one is definitely worth a try.

But OH MY FUCKING GOD, WHY DOES KILLING RANDOM MOBS TAKE HALF AN HOUR?


The worst part of this game or at best, mediocre for me is the combat. It doesn't add any new features, new systems, anything. And I could easily excuse that, but oh my god, BATTLES TAKE FOREVER IN THIS GAME. And if the battle system is boring, oh my god, I can't take 30 hours of straight-ass farming just because I like the story.

I finished the game, the dialogue in this game is good, (good enough that me - a ctrl-holding enjoyer, paused to read it), The game isn’t very gory unless you play the bad end mode, (the half of all the illustrations in #1).

The only downside is that the ending isn’t satisfying enough considering everything Polca did. She deserve more, bruh.

Disagree w/ the other High ratings - played about 8 hours & the story is not that good or interesting; demons mostly good, human nobles mostly bad etc (1/5) - not a lot of H content in the main campaign and what exists isn't that sexy (1/5) - very standard RPGM gameplay and a slightly annoying lack of freedom to move arround the map (2/5) - Nothing exceptional about the art or the character designs (3/5)

Wonderful game, great story that's not afraid to give you a kick in the gut from time to time. This isn't a game where the MC is going around and fucking all the party members and other people, MC is conquering the world and not the bedroom. Certain story elements are very heavy even with the porn turned off so beware of that. It's important to note you can turn of the sex scenes in the options menu because, well...

The sex is pretty much just rape in the main campaign, though the examples in the sample photos are from the bad end dungeon which is optional and way worse than anything mandatory, or optional prostitution in a certain kingdom where the characters are mostly just tolerating the sex and sometimes enjoy it. None of the party members rape each other, barring two scenes but those are more dubious consent than straight up assault, and honestly there's not that much sex in it.

Would recommend playing it whole heartedly; you just might want to switch off the sex scenes and keep them off if you want wholesome sex.

Sex gacha mechanic if you make it far enough. Also a lot of ENF content so it was perfect for me. Note that all except one of the nsfw CGs in the preview are from the bad end, and 90% of the CGs in the game are not like that.

Story is good. Bad end scenes are fucking repulsive and i recommend skipping if you arent into hardcore bdsm/torture.

The plot on this one is really fkn good! although it can get kinda grindy, and the H-scenes aren't all that good, the story is peak.
Also, the bad end mode H-scenes are quite Hardcore, with a lot of extreme moments, really not for everyone.

TL;DR: Game is pretty good, pretty long and a good amount of side content. Story has tons of problems but still can be enjoyed, highly by some. Characters shine through out.

Gameplay - Pretty simple RPGM type of gameplay, equipment, skills. It has a good cast but eventually you notice 2 party members are essential and 1 is very broken so never be left out of it. The supers are pretty cool, the TP system is nice (but skewed towards more hits), etc. Good weakness system, status effects are meaningful, so as buffs (even tho there isn't many of them). The characters specialization are cool wish there was more parts where it played around that where you needed to use a single character. Great amount of exploration for a RPGM game, I really liked having to revisit places, get loot, do sides, even tho sometimes the hidden treasures are too weirdly placed. Dungeons have a good length, not once I was annoyed it went for too long. Also no grinding, leveling up was natural and didn't feel incredibly impactful in the zone you are in, but tracing back to previous zones you feel how far you came. Wish there was more mechancis related to equipments, when it comes to getting them and using them. Same for party members, having duo attacks or something since they are so close together, but that's no part of a review just something it felt missing.

Art - Character art is great, most of the assets are common from RPGM games, you see the same tile a lot. The monster art is cool too. The music goes hard sometimes even tho it's pretty anime based and sometimes out of place with the world. The H art is ok.

Story - The story is good, it shines through some characters. There's a bunch of cliche, some of the biggest plot twists and important parts are lessened by very out of nowhere pulls, for example tons of important character moments are lessened by unprobable coincidences, some are "that just happen and its a miracle!" or heres a thing that exists in this world and we never hinted or told you so. There's a fair amount of " Chekhov's Gun" in the story, some well done, some horrible done. Still the characters are good enough it makes you want to keep going. By the end tons of plot points are a mess however, expect very awkward plot transitions, character decisions, last chapter felt a bit of a fever dream with anime, the conclusion IMO was not well built, but it was enough to finish everything. It felt rushed for no reason. I'm trying my best not to spoil but I just removed 1 star of it because that ending and some of the developments going towards that ending felt really badly written by trying to be different and ended up falling into a cliche. Still worth experiencing somehow.

I feel kinda bad rating it so low personally, but i did rate it 5/5 for quality that it is, but my personal rating of it as a completionist and overall vanilla focused person, the grind made me want to end the playthrough, and I also felt like masochist forcing myself to play, but the best things about this game are:
1. Story is fluid and understandable and well-written, and at times it was humiliation
2. Character personality and lore is good
3. Story does a good job in being emotional

Here are some things I didn't like about it:
(Not a focused porn game, disappointing ending, basic sex scene images, humiliation and forced rape writing(i mean i would have done it later anyways, but it was too sudden and forced during my normal playthrough), game was too long)

1. If you're treating it like a porn game, the fights in areas take forever and are boring unless you like this rpgm combat system (my biggest issue was being slowdown for seconds each time I got attacked, I couldn't really enjoy the story)
2. Sex scenes are a single image with tiny variations in characters face
3. Game is 50/50, half of the sex scenes are lighthearted kinda playful prostitution (which I'd rate 4.6/5 in terms of th basic cgs) and the other sexscenes where bad end scenes where the characters are tortured, raped, humiliated and somewhat gored, and although you can skip 18+ scenes, the main bad end emotions are done through writing, so the scenes are just a bonus (sceneswere 5/5 bad end scenes, i didnt like but quality was good), the other random scenes were nice, but they didn't exist for the most part
4. Ending could have been more fulfilling in my opinion, but the ending was a Happy one, so 2.7/5, I wanted more, but I wanted an unrealistic happy ending
5. Game was long and getting most the scenes felt like a chore rather and watching porn, although some people liked the chore of the game, my computer could barely handle the game and the lag made everything so painful to play


This is my last personal remark; this game isn't enjoyable if you treat it like a porn game(this is a story-game with random and sudden sex scenes that are not the focus nor good for fapping), and if you aren't a heavy forced slavery and rape/torture enjoyed, them you won't be able to enjoy half or most of the sex scenes as they usually are found in the bad end when you give up. And before I forget, travelling the map was painfully time consuming and boring

3. 3/5 Gameplay, I wanna give it a 1, but I understand that's because I suffered with my garbage PC, so instead maybe a 3/5 as it didn't feel good even when it wasn't buggy

4. 2.5/5 Ending, it felt too focused on telling a moral/message of past mistakes and past history/structure cannot survive in moving time, or something along those lines, I would have preferred a more fulfilling and happy ending with everyone rather than such a realistic/true ending

I understand people like this, but sadly this was too much humiliation, heavy slavery torture sex, and everything else to give it a good review, but quality is there for if you like that type of stuff. (I would enjoy answering any questions)

Edit: I played the game again and got about 100% completion on everything including achievements, cg, etc, and I checked every location by using cheats, so yeah, game has a good story, but the combat in this game felt like 90% of my playtime and wasn't fun at all, and maybe if you don't have a garbage PC like me you can enjoy the combat more, but even with cheats the grind was painful but I can attest that the story is good and author is definitely an 18+ manga author turned game creator and for everything you've done you have my respect even if everything involving rape and the bad end section of the game wasn't for me (I'm not trying to judge, just show my perspective because I know the game was meant for your fanbase and not a random person like me)
Good game, painful combat especially for my bad pc

Pretty much most of what I'd be looking for in an ero -RPG game if I'm not picky about specific things. Wonderful stuff, will be buying it for sure.

It's surprisingly long, and it has a right balance of grind and game mechanics.

The characters, especially the protagonist, are the biggest drawing points of the game for me. She's just such a cool protag, and many of the character interactions have quite a bit of chemistry, even down the line.

The worldbuilding is very nice, and actually ties in somewhat to another game by the developers. I like the story and some of the thematic bits that it covers. It has a very nice grim atmosphere and feels solid, especially given the variation in settings.

Definitely play it blind and do your best; going in with a guide ruins the experience as its especially fun when you do stuff on your own in the game.

The art is quite solid, and while maybe not the best in the world of all the eroge out there (especially in comparison to a full-fledged VN), it does what it needs to and the CGs don't disappoint.
