RPGM - Completed - Demons Roots [v1.03 + DLC] [Quick nail Aristocrat]

Solid game, the story is what makes this game stand out above many other games, I completely forgot it even was a hentai game, as a matter of fact you play Demon Roots for its story and characters not for the hentai.

A great game, story is amazing, art is amazing, everything is so good this is actually the best game here to be honest.

One of the best stories I've read. The main story sex is pretty good too. Avoid bad end stuff. This game is not for the faint of heart and its mostly depressing to some degree or other.

There's an entire side region of the game where pretty much most of the hscenes are in a more light heated and jokey manner, if only to counter the overwhelming dread and misery everywhere else in the world.

A really good RPG with a very interesting and engaging cast of characters.
If you enjoyed games like Black Souls or Monster Girl Quest I think you'll definitely find this one fun.

The RPG combat turned out to be surprisingly fun despite being relatively simple, and while the bosses remain fun, you can strike normal enemies through the back to gain the upper hand and level up easily, to some it might get tiring but it's absolutely not necessary to fight against every single enemy so you can start to ignore a lot of them by the midpoint of the game.

The main story and worldbuilding is engaging, the villains are a little too simple, but the main boss was interesting enough to keep me guessing about who they could be and their motives.

The highlight is definitely the main cast of characters, they're all fun and an absolute joy to read the interactions between all of them. One of them is an otherworlder, and it's area might seem weird but it actually made perfect sense in the setting of the world and some of it seems like setup to maybe a future game. The character itself is one of the best written ones in the game in my opinion, so hopefully it doesn't detract form anyone else's experience.

If I had to give negatives, it's that the story takes a bit to pick up, and at the beginning after the prologue it feels really simple and repetitive, but after finishing to pick up the third definitive party member it starts to get more inventive with it's main theme and you can see the endgoal of the game more clearly.
Another negative is DoReMi Fuckingdom, it's very strange and takes you out of being immersed, after a while you start to ignore it and it actually becomes relevant (in a good way) in some parts of the story, so I can forgive it.

I didn't really pay attention at the +18 scenes, I wouldn't be writting a review otherwise, but I think it's good to keep the filter turned off so you can see some cute scenes in some hotsprings. The bad end is torture porn, if that's your cup of tea, go ahead and watch.

All in all my issues with the game felt very minor to me and the possitives far outweight the negatives, so I'll give it 5 stars.

A great game with problems.

The music is a mix of generic and good songs.

Art is pretty good.

The sex scenes are the first problem, they are so bad, they lacked impact, and way too little CG´s, and sometimes it felt like the writer and the artist didn´t talk with each other, one scene in the main story between Deathpolca and Lily Killer says that Lily grew a dick, but that is clearly not drawn, what is drawn is a lesbian scene with no dick, I wouldn´t mind if the scene was only a lesbian scene with fingering, but saying she grew a dick when clearly she hasn´t in the GC is just bad. The writing of the sex scenes are also pretty meh.

Combat is the next big problem, it´s boring, the dungeons are just annoying, why isn´t there a auto battle option? Why isn´t there a button to put on the best equipment. I only had fun with the combat while fighting bosses with normal enemies I was just bored.

The Story is great, the characters were also good, I was invested in both. The Emperor is a good villain, Deathpolca is a good MC, but there were moments where the story stumbles a bit. First there where pacing and atmosphere problems, especially in the middle. Some stuff like the fuck kingdom I am really not a fan of, first the gacha and sex scenes both aren´t good and second it just feels very out of place like it was from a different game. And another problem was the Mark 6 stuff with the future human trafficker and people and opjects from anoher world, or time or both. I like the plotpoints after a while but the introduction should have been build up more, it just a bit much in a too short time.

But the game is still worth playing , for the story alone it´s very good, just wish the the gameplay was better.

No matter how great artwork will other games have, this one, to the time i'm writing this review, is the best game i ever played in my life.

I won't say much here, but if you like great story and character writing, you should try this gem of a gamedev.

H-scenes are only a mere bonus to us behind the greatest story of a demon and humankind.

Even after pirating on this website, i bought it on steam and replayed it again.

An excellent game that is almost not an H-Game at all lmao.

Reminds me of playing through Aveyond when I was a wee lad.

Story is great and of decent length, art is nice, gameplay is good - though it can be a bit grindy if you want to collect everything which is normal for RPGM games.

For H-Scenes, the main story has little of it - only certain places has it. Regardless, the art for the H-Scenes are descent. But not top-notch. Can't really rate the game for it though, as its more of a mainstream game with a splash of H than an H-Game.

Overall 4.5/5 rounded up to 5.

Ive been consuming anime media since i was 7 years old so most RPG game that are non H are predictable as fuck and frankly a slog to play through because characters in them are cardboard cutout with a set personality and only a miracle will actually make me want to play a standard RPG again which is why i turned to EroRPG because eroge makers are not afraid to go beyond the cliche and tropes which is how you get masterpiece in writing such as demons roots

There are scenes where i cried with the characters, there are scenes where i was fuming against the circumstance shoved in the main cast and there are scenes that left me stunned and speechless such as when characters go beyond their own trope or sudden moments when you realize you dont actually know the character at all which fuels twists and story progressions that makes you want to keep playing to know the character more


Im pretty much desensitized to games that makes you choose between terrible choices but this game actually managed to make me hesitate in what to choose as i sat there unable to make that choice with the weight of whatever i pick looming over me, its one of the 2 games where it was too much for me to continue playing not because its bad but because i got too attached to the characters to subject them to terrible situations


For my own personal thoughts, the writing and the story is on the same level as Nier automata, and i know this may sound insane coming from anErogRPG but its on the same level as undertale, but thats the beauty of the story and the writing, the story is so good that it more than makes up for the lackluster art direction and H-department, honestly if this was not an EroRPG it would be plastered on the internet but the stigma of the genre is smeared too deep

This game has the single best story I have ever had the pleasure of playing through. H-Game or not, I highly recommend this game to anyone who values a story that carries genuine weight, I physically felt the highs and lows of the main character as their journey progressed but as the game progressed and the story kept going, I just couldn't stop playing, I was immersed in the lore and the characters, I'm placing this game at number 2 on my list of my favorite games of all time, and as a side note, this is probably the best story I've ever read. Regardless though, if you're reading this to decide whether to play it or not, I'd recommend this game from the bottom of my heart, genuinely. I will warn however, do not play this game for any semblance of pornography, it's highly optional and mostly avoidable, and admittedly isn't the best even when it does occur, but either way, it still does add on a layer of enjoyability to an already fantastic experience.

play for the story, it has decent progression, the turn-based varieties can get very linear on certain end game point after collecting all characters, items and weapons. Sound effect is mostly your typical RPGM resources used, I don't really dig most of the sex scene but their GameOver prison arc sure brings a whole new inspiration to defeat modes.

I'm not going to pretend this game is perfect. Because it isn't perfect, it lacks a lot of things: gameplay, stylization, and generic combat, and there isn't a lot to do other than just combat and story.

As a hentai game, it lacks a lot to be desired in its sex scene's voicing or vfx, though there are a lot of variations; it's frankly boring at times. You rarely see the sex outside of Bad End or Doremi, and so it's mediocre at best.

BUT AS A STORY!!! It's perfect; the characters are fun; the protagonist is solid and not boring; the worldbuilding is solid. You get really attached to these characters over the course of the game; the ending, though bittersweet, still leaves me satisfied. I came to this game expecting sex and left wanting more solid writing.

If you came here only wanting H-scenes, it might not be for you. but I still implore you to try it out because this game is honestly a masterpiece.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a bad game, but the way that h-scenes are integrated is a deal breaker for me, and I think it's worth pointing out for people who are considering this game. Demons Roots is essentially split into three different modes. There is the regular rpgm game where you try to conquer the humans, the theme park where you pull gacha's for h-scenes, and the bad end mode. The theme park contains the games more vanilla and positive cgs, and the bad end mode contains cgs like you see in the preview images.

The strength of h-games as porn for me lies in their ability to place the sex act in a greater context and for you the player to feel like you are part of that context. By placing its sexual content into alternate modes that have no bearing on the overall context of the game, the scenes feel unimportant and uninteresting. They're nice pictures, but why are they in this game? What purpose do they actually serve to the work as a whole?

Might not be a good porn game since the h-scenes are brutal and you kind of don't want to see characters that you like being brutalized but it's a good rpg, a way better rpg than a lot of other ones I've played recently for the last couple of years.

And yes there are plotholes or whatever but the game has soul and Deathpolca is a peak protagonist.

PEAK game, imo it have good story and good character develpment. It also have a banger of a music and some feature that i havent see in many RPGM games. Such as getting item from interacting with surrounding item and hidden rooooomm. This game is recomended for you that yearn the experience of good RGM game. BUT i must admit, the H scene may be lacking anddd if you aren a fans of Gore and Violence. Then this game will be hard for you to play. So there that. Play this game if you like a good story game

This game is the prequel of the game King exit, I think it is better to play it because one possible ending of this game is king exit. And you will more understand the facts that demons are really terrible and should maybe be erased if deathpolca was not here.

The H-scene are .... meh. I didn't fap at all in 60 hours of play. It is not a good H-game.
But it is an excellent RPGM game. One of the best RPG I played. It is, for me, on the same level than a chrono trigger of a Final fantasy IV.

TL;DR : If you want to fap -> don't play.
If you want to play a really good RPG , GO GO GO !!

One of the best games I've ever played here.
Though I won't recommend this to anyone that don't like torture/blood/grim stuff cause there's a lot of it.. and rather than an h game. this is more like a real game with some h in it.

10/10 Great story that follows slaves/underdogs trying to beat an oppressive regime to get their freedom.

The story written by the author of Hongye Steamed Bun is very mature. You can experience a series of psychological changes in the story, including blood, anger, betrayal, despair, compromise, humiliation, hope, weakness, and comfort. The protagonist is a Marxist who struggles endlessly for happiness and the future. Her attempt to break the spiral of fate and the endless chain of hatred between races is grand. She shines brightly as she tries to confront the awe inspiring difficulties of the vast gap. Her encounter with Princess Lily, who has been isolated for thousands of years, is grateful, and everything she strives for is despairing before being powerless to bring the world to a close. But the ending was good, and everything she did did did not disappear, but opened up a better future beyond prophecy.

I was expecting a game with a simple story, the usual simple gameplay of Rpgmaker, a not so interesting casting: and I found the complete opposite. The game starts to get good from chapter 3 onwards, but it is worth the journey. It is not a pornographic game, it is a story to tell.

This game was an interesting ride and a fun little story to run through so here's an arbitrary review by a dumb reviewer!

Fun little snippets of lore and lewdness, along with Game Over CG's to boot as well with the basic CG's you can get throughout the game each with a happy amount of fappability! while there are no animations each bit of art was made with love and intentions to keep the players hooked.

Haven't seen an H-Game with such an intriguing story and plotline like this, with each note having different points to the story and several chapters too!

while this ruins the perfect score, doesn't change the fact that it's still the fun RPGM combat we all know and love and for that I still give this game high praise!

This was an extremely interesting ride with each moment in the game making you forget that this is an H-Game (till it reminds you) as the story unveils and introducing new characters that fit with the games plot points and narrative too. All in all I'd suggest getting and playing this game! check it out and maybe even go support the creator as well for making a masterpiece like this. This was Soma, my opinions don't matter and have fun with this game!

I played it on Steam and put it as a candidate for best RPG that year.
It is very unfortunate that because it is a controversial genre, it will not be taken into account and forgotten, but I have high regard for the music, the bosses, and the story it wants to tell. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to play a good rpg made in rpgm about its sexual content it is not the best and not to the liking of many nor is it its main focus

so if you are looking for a game for a quickie look elsewhere

If you are looking for an eroge game with a good story, this is your game

(I also recommend king exit, which is from the same creator, it has a bad translation but it is related to this title if you were left wanting more)
