Ren'Py - Depravity [v0.62 Public] [Dante]

This is another typical incest game except more generic, and most things that can go wrong with a game definitely go wrong with this one.
Using disproportional Honey Select models, Depravity is about boredom, for the most part. The VN-style intro's way too long, very convenient, filled with clichés and it pretty much sets you up with at least 3 girls already while actually nothing interesting happens, after which you'll be thrown into a Korean grinder.

So if you'd come for a quick wank, you're knocking on the wrong door.
If you'd come for a meaningful story, you're also knocking on the wrong door.

This is a porn game. People don't play porn games for the story, and they sure as hell don't play for the grind.
They play for the porn and stay for the story. Neither is attracting here, especially not with the third wheel grind being present.

The story is based on our real world, but it's nonsensical, generic, filled with holes, conveniences, and if that didn't scare people away, it then also fucks its own established setting by introducing the supernatural, parallel timelines, and video game characters despite being neither sci-fi nor fantasy... Just to make sure you don't give a shit about the story, in case you considered giving one. So what the fuck is this game about, really, when you can get more consistency on Rule34?

That it makes no sense would be fine if porn was focused. But it is not. You have to read through chapters of boring, pointless, irrelevant tittle tattle between every short and rather disappointing scenes. Really, the ratio of porn to utter boredom is ridiculously disproportional.
And if it's about the story, then where the fuck's the story hidden? Why is it so shallow and pointless, driven by clichés and random conveniences?

Characters are pretty fucking flat and monotone personality-wise, that maybe to compensate for their waspish waists and crushing thighs and phat bootiez and unnatural melons (looking at you, torpedo tits "landlady").
Besides that, they have nothing interesting to offer either.

They have pretty fixed personalities that are in no way hidden from anyone who crunched through that dry intro, so "exploring" the characters yields no unexpected results, no developments, their "stories" are short, they're exactly that shallow, they offer nothing else but what was obvious at first glance, but then again, not much of that either.

"Sounds" boil down to background music chosen based on the taste of the developer, regardless of whether it fits the mood of scenes or not. Otherwise, no sounds present.

Visuals - again, it's Honey Select models. It's not bad per se, but nothing was done to make it more interesting than that. On the contrary.

In reality there are women with black, brown, white, yellow skin tone, in reality there are women with who are tall or short, slim or chubby, with large and small boobz and bootiez.
In reality, there's variety.

In this game, however, there's little to no variety among the characters appearance-wise, they are way too similar, it really doesn't feel like a game made for an audience, it feels like a game made for a single person. You should not expect a colorful cast, except an unnatural, unrealistic cast with look-alikes and comical anatomy.

Grind is over half the game. That's bad. That's pretty fucking bad, considering it's just your everyday "time waster" grind that is not even accidentally fun. Someone, somewhere, sometime in the past wanted to suck all the fun out of a game and created this soul-crushing abomination called 'grinding', and people still happily implement it into their games like it's an achievement to be proud of. It's not. It's terrible. Stop it.
Upside here is that you can use the built-in "hack" to cheat yourself money and bypass this literal waste of your time, but it is still not an acceptable "fix", it does not excuse the creation of this tired, loathed game mechanic in the first place.

Overall this game is amateur where you can find all the careless beginner's mistakes.
It has nothing to set it apart from other games, it has no charm, it has no personality, no exceptional game mechanics, it doesn't cater to a variety of rare kinks, it tries to be a porn game with a story to tell except porn sucks and there's no story to be told.
It excels at nothing, but it has flaws and mistakes piled up in every department.

There are proper games out there worth playing, this is not one of them.

UPDATED REVIEW.

Since reviewing this game a year or two ago, some worrying facts about the game have come to my attention, I won't get into them, but it should be mentioned.

The game still has good models, the music is still great, and the characters are still interesting, but I can't in good faith give it anything more than a 2 due to recent developments.

I just saw the models and decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised.
You can clearly see a lot of work was put in the game. For me everything was perfect. Story is average but interesting with all characters with different personalities. Characters are beautiful and likable. Writing is good.
I especially like the facial expressions of characters(I'm not talking about facial expressions during sex scenes but in general).
Character development is good. Caroline's(best girl) route is just amazing looking forward for content for her.
And best part of this game is music man dante you have great taste in music.
P.s- If you are guy who mutes music then you are making a big mistake.
Sex scenes and Animations are smooth and are pretty hot.
Overall It is a super fun, interesting game with hot and cute girls.
Eagerly waiting for upcoming update .

Love the art style, the animation, the sensual story combined with a fair amount of comedy, the character's consistency, the musics. Every little aspects are spectacular and you really deserved more recognition.

In short, for me, the game lacks in too many aspects.
I will not speculate, on what part or why dev does what they do, just simply state my feelings.

As a writer myself is really hurt my feeling how stupid and full of plot holes is a story. Although for this genre, story is not that important, but still it suck too much. It showed the best at the very start. The intro is too rushed.

The visuals of the game, one of the aspects to be proud about. As it still in development, polish those animations would be nice. All others are very good.

The "family" of the hero are most unnatural and plain in the game. All other characters have the quirk that make them special. I personally in love with Caro <3 (still too many specific terms in dialogues for her overall)

The UI of the game is too simple for the graphics that used in it. It can be better.

Not all game using music like in this game, i personal like it.

Overall the game comes out good, let's see what it will get in the end.

Excellent developer, who clearly cares and enjoys their project! They really put in the work.
Gets updated frequently enough compared to some other projects, and has a quality art style. At this point, it may be on the short side for some, but I am more than glad to follow it and see where it goes.
Its a nice genre for people who like their sexual content somewhat dirty, but not too far away from vanilla (if traps aren't your cup of tea, you can avoid it anyways).

I've been playing VN games for quite a long time and this one is the best of all that I've played. Depravity is an excellent game with an interesting and enjoyable plot. Though the main thing in this game is about sex, there're also some good and intelligent jokes and great characters that are interesting and fun to watch. And the other excellent thing besides characters and jokes is music. Music is the integral part of this game and it's always in the right places. So in my opinion, Depravity is the most worthy VN game.

This game is.. meh. Honestly i dont know if i should be qualified to review it as i didnt get very far, but thats exactly the reason why i am doing so. It just isnt very captivating despite its great renders. Something about the characters and world design lacks charm and character.

I see this same issue with a lot of honeyselect games and it mainly comes down to the writing. Although porn games should be about, well, porn, the point of making it a game is also about telling a story and having some interesting characters and world. With honeyselect games the writing is always awful and all characters feel like the copies of the same default set of characters only with different bodies.

v0.53 Review
An excellent series with great models that showcases promising animation, It offers fairly competent writing for its characters and story, which allows its cliched premise to be interesting..

Its biggest downside to date is that while its a very, very promising series, It is just the beginning, there is a lack of NSFW content while there plenty enough, as of its current state, It seems to be in the foundation laying stage setting up the characters, etc, and the gameplay itself simply a bore, but its mostly a visual novel so you don't have to suffer it too much.

Until recently, I thought DEPRAVITY was a good-looking but timid game. It seemed to explore the same subjects as many other H-games on this site, and rarely took risks. The title DEPRAVITY seemed sad when paired with such a vanilla game. The character design for Nicole is gorgeous, but here's this sexy, kinky girl, and ... we get to spank her. We must respect her limits, and give her a mild spanking, and it doesn't come close to what people would term "depravity." It was all mild, and all mildly disappointing.

But all of that changed recently, with the introduction of a new character and a new storyline. Holy crap, OLIVIA! Give me a stunning, gorgeous character, make me cheer for her downfall, and give me an opportunity to explore the kind of dark sexual aggression I would never engage with in real life, and you have *everything I could hope for* in an erotic game.

With the introduction of the hard-bodied, feminist, drug-dealing blonde college professor, DEPRAVITY became the h-game equivalent of "Must-See TV." When the game gave users the opportunity to degrade and debase her, to humiliate her, the game crossed a threshold and earned its title. When your character rams Olivia while she's on the toilet, that's DEPRAVITY.

I hope it keeps going in this direction.

Here's hoping for more of Olivia and her story, for more edgy, dark actions, for bullying and whipping and pissing on her, for the opportunity to enact in our fantasies those things we would never do in real life.

It'd be great to see harder play with Nicole as well.

One of the best, if not the best, looking honey select style games around. This game is super fun, and all the girls are great. The game is not too hard and all the girls stories are interesting. I don't really think this game has a bunch of "hoops" for you to jump through like another review said, everything is pretty straight forward. Looking very much forward to future updates.

Also, whoever marked this as having "gay" content, I don't think actually played it. There is ZERO gay content in this game.

Sadly this game has the problem that it tells you to jump through hoops to get anywhere. It is like an IKEA-manual-style form of "game".
The visuals are really nice, but that is all that is holding this game together, the premise is nothing special, but who cares about that. The story is 'meh' and nobody cares about that either.
The characters are 2 dimensional with massive 3D tits. They look nice but there is nothing interesting about them otherwise.

Really nice looking! Although there isn't too much there at the moment, the faces of the characters look really good, and personally I can't wait to see where more of this story goes. My personal favorite character is the professor, as I've always had a spot in my heart for breaking stuck up bitches. Definitely check this out if you like the Honey Select style graphics and a ominous story.

The game on the surface seems promising. There are major problems:

There is far to much text, the ratio of text porn is awful. For every hour of play, there is approximatly 2 minutes of porn. So this game is not fappable, despite it's currently stellar rating

Content: there is almost no content for each girl. You'd expect the "landlady" route to be the most complete, but it actually has the least.

There is no repeatable content, the game plays like a visual novel, each event you get once. thought there are replays.

You never know when you are going to get text stomped. Each click of the "talk" button is a potential 30 minute text reel of "story".

version 0.2 is more appropriote.

This is actually surprisingly good. Did not get far yet but thought I would rate the game anyways. The outfits at the club at hot af. Fingers crossed that there will be more outfits to come. I see trap in the tags which is kind of weird.

Extremely good graphics and different story lines Reasonably easy once you start getting a bit of money since u can use the stock. Probably the best renpy game and best character designs. Only down side its the gap between updates.

Great and unique renders spread toward a decent variation of girls.
Assertive protagonist that does not loses time won't get you frustrated like some beta protags out there.
Gameplay has requires you to farm some money without ever being grindy.
Plot has a really nice flow when summed with how endearing the girls are, the text never gets boring.

A solid recommendation worth of your time investment more than most porn games out there.
