Oh you treat the game as literature and intellectual stimulation! Cool!
lol you don't? Seriously though, story-wise it's better than most of the games uploaded to this site, many of which simply look at how they can make their "story" fit the next lewd scene they want to put in. And I was mostly referring to people who hold down CTRL through all the story bits and then complain it is short.

Just done a full replay and found new queen scene near begining if you take no crap from her - you get a prison scene- and near the end there are 6 or so queen missions that are very blue balls but i love em - final queen shani sexual scene is awesome ! only complaint really is there seems to be certain cutoffs in shani missions in the wastes - if you investigate the queens guy first you exit the area not having met the elf or gone into the factory area - the open world aspect needs a clearer path i feel.

Was getting errors when introducing Fairy to the family. Something about a Kateryna variable going wrong.
Because of the way these story elements were added piecemeal, we now have issues with the chronological order of some events.

So I started over, and almost right from the start I get this annoying exclamation point alert on the map even though there's nothing there. It doesn't go away.

The Fairy introduction error cleared out. Introducing Kateryna to the family first was one of the conditions messing it up. I think the script should be adjusted so as to make clear the sequence for these two events. Or rather, I guess it's clear if you're not going off an older save.

Now I get an error where Shani is back, but I haven't gone to deal with the General yet. And I have an option to meet with the queen where one of the topics for discussion is how I dealt with him. Apparently going to the Zone messed up the flow of time or something.

Some people bashing the ones that felt the update was short/underwhelming are not making a great case for the game.

I get and agree that some folks really are coomer addled self-indulgent folks that are complaining about their favorite LI or kinks (namely sharing) not being featured this time around. For me personally, the less sharing there is, the better. But that's beside the point.

This update felt underwhelming because I did not feel like it made any significant progress in any of the directions the game started with. It felt like "multiple prologs" based on locations, with no actual meaningful developments or resolutions to any of them. Namely Kira's Town, the Palace, the decayed in Cairo, our own household and the Asani bit.

All that was presented was nice, pretty and interesting, but there was nothing for me to really sink my teeth into. It'd have been much better to focus on one or two of those things.

The household probably needed to be priority number one with the official introduction of Fairy and the joining of Kateryna (as well as a follow-up on Shani being back). That kind of thing really doesn't move the plot forward though, so priority number two should've been ONE of these four: the Palace, the Raiders, the Mutants or the Decayed. Probably going with the decayed as priority 2 would've been the best choice in here as I don't see (and don't want to see really) much sexy-time when dealing with them, leaving things "free" to be focused on the story moving forward.

The progress we got on all the different fronts was simply not nearly enough to let me satisfied. There was character development with the Queen and an introduction to a problem she is having with some people around her. But nothing as to the development of this problem, nevermind it's resolution.

Kira's town... what was the point of going there? I mean, really? No repeatable scenes since the place gets locked down after 2 visits and NOTHING happens. The only thing that "technically" happens is that folks in there now call you boss. Aaaand... that's it. Look I really, REALLY like Asha and Kira, but what we got here was just... nothing.

The Decayed part was nice. It felt like things were moving along and progressing. Things were getting interesting... and 5 minutes later, it's over. What? That's it? Might as well have put that part in the next update and make it 3x longer.

Asani was kinda nice but came out of the blue. It was a literal "I'll just go visit her, cause why not?". And that's fine, really, but I think that these inconsequential one-offs really should be implemented in an update where you'll have a lot of content focused on the story with small amounts of sex. Because that's basically what that scene is there for - sex.

No development with the mutants at all. And I'm glad that's the case this time because if the content with them was just to go to their base, say hi and then come back, I'd be pissed.

Now see, maybe I'm being unreasonable with my expectations. But the truth is that Desert Stalker was "in the zone" (pun intended) for so long that my expectations rose high. I always expect things from the DS team to be fucking great. Not meh, not lukewarm, not even good, I expected something awesome. The only other game that makes me have these kinds of expectations is Eternum.

And now, unfortunately, it's also the only one. Still hoping for great things from this game into the future though.
You perfectly described my sentiment after playing this update (and the last one). This game is still part of my absolute favorites but I'm really not fan of developing several plots at once. It's as you said, feels like everything is ending so abrubtly that you keep wondering why it's been implemented in the first place. The worst part imo is that the general package feels lacking, even if some individual bits hit the mark (really liked the household new scenes and the queen progression) Heck, it didn't even feel like 1000 renders like Zetan said, unless idk he included the animation renders in the count. I really hope he'd focus on one arc at a time.

There are typos in day14.rpy and harem.rpy. The variable introduction_katerya should be introduction_kateryna.

Nothing pops up. This is exactly the reason why the compressed versions must be on the OP.
101% sure.

The story seems to be improvised. I don't think the storyteller started with a full outline. That can be ok, depending on the storyteller. Some great writers, such as Anthony Trollope, wrote his novels with only a vague understanding of how they would end. But long long ago, there was an elf . . . who has long vanished. And there was a guard named Lirah, who has long vanished. And there was something important that our main character had to do for the queen . . . something more than "menial tasks" that are merely an excuse to repeat the palace scene. And why are we visiting that solitary woman in the cabin? And there are so many factions . . . all with wonderful settings . . . but why does the story have so many? What, in fact, IS the story? It seems more to be a world, where this thing happens, and then that . . . all improvised without any clear story arc.

On the other hand, it might be that the time between updates is so long, and the story so complex, that it can't be followed very easily . . . the reader has forgotten most of the details.

But I still suspect the story is being improvised. We'll never see the elf, nor Lirah, again, nor that man who was beating his slave . . . and new characters are still being added, such as the new chief guard, an older servant who serves the queen. Why is she in there? Only because something needed to be improvised, it seems.
Well, yes and no.

The story is not improvised as in, we know where we are, we know where we want to go and we know the major stepping stones of getting there. But there are also smaller steps in between that are evolving naturally or crafted along the way to serve a purpose (even if the purpose is simply "moar sex").

Same goes for the characters I would say. There are mainstay characters, there are secondary characters and there are fillers. One such filler character for instance would be the priestess.
She only serves as a carriage for the Temple bit and maybe look kinda hot in the process, but there aren't any big plans for her. Maybe she has an encounter with your penis at some point in the future, maybe not. Maybe we find out that she can actually be used for some part in the story and she makes a comeback, but quite unlikely.

There is also the notion of characters somewhat writing themselves, whereas you start with a character canvas in mind but as you develop them more and more they also steer bits in a certain direction.
Is something fitting with their past actions? Or the way they expressed in the past? Is it consistent enough?

I believe that those things are all part and parcel of the creative process of telling a story over the span of years. Some things are nailed down, others crop up "as we go".

That said, I do understand that some updates can feel disjointed due to the structure of the game, but hopefully it flows better as a whole.

Well, I don't really need a story. Is a story needed?

The game provides a world, and many small stories that happen in that world. That's how it seems, and that can be fine.

But again, maybe there is a detailed outline that the writers are following, and the story is so involved that it can't be easily remembered for months and months. Maybe all will be clear when the game is done.

But if not, I still think the world is successful, and the characters strong.
I would argue that the world is the story in a sense, and the MC can influence how it unfolds. But it's not a "coming of age" story where the MC's growth is the focal point. He's just a medium to observe -or impact where you can- what happens around you (and score some booty in the process).
The world would change with or without the MC, maybe not in the same way or degree, but it would change.

I'm kind of in the same boat with the story... I dont really see where its going so I'm starting to lose engagement with it. Like the girls are all attractive and the sex scenes are more or less ok, but now what. I appreciated the scenes with the queen, her opening up a bit were nice but thats kind of it.

Theres shit going on with mutants and the new settlement but it more so feels like that stuff is now just added on so that there can be lewd content at will, just go do a side event and get a bj reward. The whole story about the older daughter was good, with her doing her side quest.

Is this now just going to be more of the same? Side missions with a new girl that doesnt really matter at the end of the day? Thats why I was disappointed overall with the update, felt like there wasnt progress in the story.

Either some people want to see Igor/Omars dick really bad or they're self-inserting (which I thought was advised against?)
I guess the scenes with mc and his girls aren't hot enough or maybe some people can't stand the thought of only the mc doing it? I don't know about anyone else but when I see all the gorgeous ladies here my first thought isn't "I want to see more cocks!"
