Either way, for me personally there's a shit ton of content that's been reworked and other side quests being added into v0.17, so I'm personally gonna replay the game just to re-experience DS from scratch so I can keep the plot and other side characters/missions top of mind to help me refresh everything that's gone on since playing v0.16

The bottom line though is that we can all agree that the improvements made to DS are actually quite impressive and would warrant a re-run of the game if not in the short term, at-least in the long term when the game nears or is close to completion as possible.

They've said with all the reworked content and things added now at the beginning and middle of the game that is highly recommended to restart from the beginning anyway.

Yeah, I don't think that's true. You just can't give out steam keys for free. Having a non-steam version available for download is fine. Plenty of devs will say otherwise though because it gives them an excuse to stop public updates.
