I would say the sheep is someone who mindlessly repeats something like that without checking if it's actually true. Which it isn't, just so you know. Renpy 8 is in fact perfectly capable of loading saves from Renpy 7. Blaming it on the engine when the engine does have save compatibility between versions? That is some sheep bullshit right there.
Renpy get updated... how many game here got the same with a working save from older Renpy ? as far i know every time this case happen you can be 90% sure your save is dead & you need to restart the game from 0...
There are changes in the codes and scenes, apparently. The game has been shuffled, and starting anew is a wise approach. Also, people should wait for a proper release and not bother with this Beta.
This is Beta !!! ... not Sparta. Wait for a proper release to punish your child.

It's case-by-case basis. Very simple games that only use basic data structures could easily load saves between versions. Desert Stalker isn't that simple.
Ren'Py 7 uses Python 2 and Ren'Py 8 uses Python 3. The differences between Python 2's pickle module (data serialization used in saves) and Python 3's could cause errors when loading saves.
But no, that wouldn't be the only reason for the save incompatibility. The game's code changed significantly (and for the better).

I don't follow. I could've sworn this was already in the game before. I don't mind waiting for "real"(?) release of 0.17 but when I downloaded it it just said 0.17.0 nothing about beta. Anyway if you say it's currently bugged that's fine, I will just wait for next release. Because I don't want to continue raider arc until after I punish Ain.
Maybe it is a bug? I dunno, it's a beta so maybe it's missing. But I just noticed there was no dialogue option to actually call her over. It wasn't like a missing image kind of situation. Soo....*shrugs* who knows. Hopefully the completed version will restore it

Wow just wow, i actually never expected to end up on this gold of a game, however much i say is less for this quality of game, love the game, love the story, love the music and sounds. Great Game definitely recommend everyone to try out this game.
Well, as already said, the saves disappeared. Which is not good of course, but the game already had a save. So I didn't have to play through it from the very beginning. There was a plus in this, I saw content with Nadia again (I don't know about others, but this female character charmed me more than all the other female characters), so I would like to see more content with her. Well, overall, the update was not bad. Although it became more boring, all the hardcore that this game was famous for has disappeared somewhere. I can play "noble knight" in any other porn game, so I liked this one for its possibilities, which began to slowly disappear...
wow basically a tech update. at least if they do it in one go versus dragging it out over 2 years, thats fine. litlte disappointing though

Well the game is great as always the story is good but try to get more fighting events we are clicking renders too fast make some fights
