Totally get that, newer renpy version has a lot of new things that help along the way. Still always sucks having to backtrack sometimes.

Worth it... I've said this before, but the revamped scene of returning Kyra to Adira is so worth it.

I find it strange that in another version I played, we had missions with Shany. Then we could have sex with her. Now there's nothing left. nor with the Queen. Finally we go back, with nothing more to come. just repetitions. I think it was just a bug fix..hahaha. good game.

i am playing 17.1.1, though I think the save file might've started with the 17b? Don't recall exactly. Another thing I ran into as a looping bug was when the purple haired raider is in the basement, I kept choosing the "let's go to the wastes" option, and she would constantly toss up "You sure? Your wife said she wanted to do something first" and I could either say yes I'm sure, or wait to talk to Zhara. What was interesting about this, was I assumed it was the Ain Punishment scene, since it can segwey into banging Zhara in front of the raider chick, but that would never trigger. Ain's Punishment only triggered AFTER I took the raider girl out, and then I could take her to the basement. But then of course, the raider isn't there to watch. So yeah, I've had all kinds of weird issues with several scenes, all including Ain. Can't think of any other content that is missing from any other characters or locations. I think I'll just delete and reinstall and start over, see if that clears it up. I even have a gallery unlock and those scenes are missing from there as well. It's not just from me going through the storyline.

Yeah dude, you're playing a save from the beta. I'd strongly recommend starting a fresh playthrough on 17.1.1. The scenes you're missing have to do with a flag labeled ainroomintroduction. I'm thinking it must have been an artifact of the old code because it doesn't appear to be in v0.17.1.1 .

This explains your missing ain scenes as well as Kyra in the basement.

I wonder if you've got a notification of that (IOW I'm wondering when new people are mentioned in a post edit whether they get notified). I'm asking because I got the impression you might have missed it and/or haven't checked the link I posted there.

Anyway, if you've played the beta before, I'd indeed start fresh + clear out your persistent file(s):

+ I think it'd be wise to delete your persistent file(s) if you've played the beta earlier. Inside C:\Users\<YOUR_USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\DesertStalkerEA-100001, but you should delete inside game's game\saves folder as well (including the saves there, or just delete whole folder).

You can, just need to pick the more harsh option before ('take her out').

I recall from the beta that there will be a message in the quest log saying that's all the content for now (or smthng) for that quest (all sub-items should be crossed out).

I don't really understand why, but when I started the new version from the beginning, I felt that these scenes are a bit, ehem, dry. To be honest I didn't play it for long time, but I remember some scenes to be different between the last two versions (0.16 vs 0.17). What I can tell that is differend by now: Shani taunting zombies with joke? Gone. Quest from queen to exterminate Decayed? Simplified. Also the town midnight encounter is somewhat dissapointing. You aren't saving slave, which is probably better, but mutant girl for Yuna (this time without note engraved on knife). I did like the previous content before. I wonder if these changes are created for the steam version or if it's remake.

Agreed, especially the introduction to decayed's cannibalism is much less intimidating in the new version.
In the previous versions Kyra was being held in a cage, and the decayed butcher scene was much more scary and mysterious.
"Never disturb a butcher while he's working" or something along those lines.

No automatic save migration of any kind for a simple RenPy save with simple numerical values that everyone can see with RenPy save editors online?
No prepared saves that people can use in the new version?
No quickstart option where you can select your biggest choices made previously before it continues the story with the new content?
All of the above options were done many times previously by many different devs in much more complex RenPy games.

You do know the game rework completely the code and migrated to a newer version of the Renpy engine right?
You welcome not to support the dev and not follow. Hence why you don't know that literally for months, they already told everyone that you going to have to make a new save going forward with the new engine. So don't go in and start shit like nobody warns you cause they did.
Every single week dev updates in the last 4 months.

I'm enjoying my restart of this great AVN.

It was obvious we were going to need new saves since there was so much rework done + a major Renpy update - and something the dev talked about in his dev logs months ago.

Improved stability and a successful Steam release = a better resourced dev who is incentivized to continue adding to hardware and software capabilities to not just continue development but to improve on the content delivered.

I have the added bonus of getting to add a few trolls to my ignore list when they complain about restarting the AVN instead of having the dev take time away from development to hold their hands on a restart of this AVN.

I'm looking forward to more MC/Shani seduction of the Queen and, with luck, we will get more of this path in the next rev.

Why would they follow any of those "solutions" of yours? The game is meant to ship out in a whole completely new form. Why would they slap a save for you to skip all new the content they worked hard reworking on? 15 minutes of your life pressing the skip button is so hard bro.

This is the repeatable "Sleep with Ain" scene and it wasn't removed. It'll become available after you allow Ain to leave the basement after her punishment.

The problem wasn't sexual content with Ain. That's obvious because there's a LOT of sexual content with Ain. The problem was that some few renders in the game made her look underaged. Namely, a handful of renders in the "welcome home" blowjob scene at the end of day 1. That scene in particular was apparently flagged in the Patreon review, so the devs simply opted to remove those renders instead of nuking the whole scene.

I have a concern the Patreon police will drop the hammer on a lot more if they look into it.

Despite the official 18+ note, quite a few scenes have several of the younger "just reached adulthood" ladies looking more in line with traditional cultures' norms around the world, which very often (regardless of where in the world the culture was) set the acknowledged age of adulthood a half decade earlier (on average) than modern societies generally do. Young Zhara, for instance, as well as Lirah.

Again, we have the 18+ disclaimer, but young-ish looking pixel collections are apparently a capital thoughtcrime offense.

Sigh. Knew Patreon would warp the game..
