Zahra is a strong woman in her own right, who would not abide a man being unfaithful to her if she didn't know with absolute certainty that she's the first and last woman he will ever truly need, that he'll always come back to her and would die to protect her not just because hurting her is an affront towards himself but because he genuinely cares for her above all else.
Their relationship is their strength and it's so solid that they can indulge in whatever pleasure they pursue without shame or doubt. And it is true for both of them.

It may not be the most popular viewpoint, but to me that shows strength and confidence that's unmatched by most of the main characters in other harem games. A strength in relationship, devotion and mutual acknowledgement...

In most other games, the women are the only ones who bend over backwards for the main guy, who otherwise jumps between relationships with the permanence and truthfulness of a psychotic slot machine, effectively playing 5 different relationships in isolated boxes.
I like to think that whatever relationship Zaton pursues with other women, builds on the love story between him and Zahra, and isn't played out against it or despite of it, but rather feed one into the other.... And in that picture, I don't find it implausible that he might want to occasionally share the love or lust with others who are dear to him... Whether it's for his own pleasure/benefit or that of his loved ones.

Hours of replay? Well, only if you want to enjoy the game again, because with the skip function (standard for RenPy) it takes about 10-15 minutes. And that's if you stick to your choices.
It's better to spend some of that time replaying, since:
- many people have already made it to the end of 0.17;
- the game has a lot of choices that have consequences, you may not like someone else's playthrough;
- this is a sandbox and there is no clear division into releases, some quests (not interesting to the player) may not have been completed, and you will still need to pass them, some will be completed before 0.17;
- downloading saves for RenPy games from the internet

Insecurity complex may not be the right term. There is clearly an insecurity, but it is not an insecurity complex or a lack of self-confidence. Why is a man fundamentally opposed to a woman who belongs to him seeing another man? Is it because he doesn't trust her? Or because he knows a "man" very well because he is a man himself? It would be too shallow to confuse the protective attitude here with a complex. Zotan is a warrior. Zotan is perhaps the most masculine character in that corrupt world. It's a natural testosterone thing to want to protect his harem.

There is a very simple reason that underlies this problem in nature. The romans made it into a legal principle with a very fitting name.

Almost all sexual behavior in primates, the majority of the ritualized behavior in humans, like marriage, and behavior like mate guarding are rooted in this simple problem.

So, you can extrapolate the following: sharing behavior will arise when there is a) an overabundance of available mates, you deduced that correctly, or b) when the 'shared mate' is not actually seen as a viable mate by the individual making them available and finally c) a human uses its brain to rationalize the behavior in one of a myriad ways.

Sharing Ain for example could be seen as 'please just get pregnant by some sob so I can shotgun wedding you out of my house'. This would, especially in regards to the setting, be prevalent to do with Igor, who already shares a close bond with our main character, which would generally be settled by marrying one of his daughters.

That said, Zeta seems weird enough about inheritance rules that I'm not entirely comfortable making guesses.
There is something weird going on with the title of ruling monarch going from queen to queen that warrants a little explanation.

It seems like you are approaching this from the mindset of someone treating this like the 21st century, a world where a variety of contraception is available, so unwanted pregnancy and the cost of raising that child/those children is not an issue.

Any conception by any member of Zaton's family is his responsibility to provide for.

I'd argue its actually more immersive or realistic seeing other couples in the game, in action even better if possible, not just pimping out your girls, but even so, its their culture, lore seems to imply this. well it doesn't really matter because the justification they give that was part of the culture It's very weak when dont have any consequences and you can completely turn it off.
This explanation would be good if characters interact differently depending on the player's choices. (I understand this was a lot more work for the dev) but the way it was done just seems like a weak excuse to please both sides
