So this is actually an anime, or manga? Is the kid still an absolute pathetic perve or does he somehow become something with all the potential constantly being handed to him? Like I know its all for fun and what not and a parody which is why im inquiring about the real thing. I'm interested in the potential story of its lore, but not if this characters canonically pathetic.

High School DXD is Light Novel Series with 24 Volumes and other side novels.
More people know the series as an anime and the manga was canceled. Most people who reads the light novels are people who enjoyed the anime or the manga or frankly both.
Honestly, I recommend watching the anime or Read the light novels; if you're interested in the light novels I give you a links to download the volumes or there is Youtuber who reads the books.
But honestly the light novels flesh things out better tbh; this game is better the anime right now the game is at Vol.2 of the light novels.
