I sort of fell into this discussion, but I would offer the Dev some friendly advice. You are stepping into a highly critical market! It's full of people with a huge variety of tastes and interests. The battle between platforms, kink preferences, game types, etc, all draw out very passionate critics. Everyone has an opinion and you cannot please them all.
Negative people are always going to be the first to voice their opinion. You just gotta toughen up and suffer the slings and arrows. If what they are saying, no matter how negative, can add value to your project, then dust off the shit that gem of wisdom may be buried in. If a critique doesn't add value, ignore it.
You won't make everyone happy. But stick to what you know, write what you want to write, and make the game the way you envisioned. Sooner or later, you'll look around and find there are people that are enjoying what you do. They may not always be the most vocal, but if they're playing it an enjoying it, then it's worth it. I'll never play your game because I'm a Renpy/VN type of fan. But that doesn't mean there isn't an audience for your game.
If you want a good example, go to our thread. We got our asses tore up hard in the beginning for dozens and dozens of posts. We were green in so many ways and we got called out on all of them. But we took it in stride, picked up all the good advice we could no matter how venomous it was spit in our direction, and we grew.
A lot of those early critics have never come back, and in their place we've seen a amazing base of fans emerge. We still get complaints every time we put out a release. We read all of it because you never know when someone's smart ass comment or vicious criticism actually contains something you can use to make your game better.
Keep your cool an go easy now.
Cheers Mate!
