Tracker is displayed as "leech.ie". It just seemed like a weird thing to happen and a weird error message to get. But if you've got the seeding covered, I won't worry about it until I try another of your torrents and find out if I've actually been banned or it's just a weird message.

Thanks again!
No problemo!
I know that tracker can ban peers if they try spoofing their IP which might happen if your ISP uses CGNAT (nerd stuff), like if your IP changes a lot. It should only be temporary though,
Honestly i should just look into hosting the tracker myself so I have more insight into this stuff. I'm delighted you're seeing an improvement with torrents though, glad I could be of help! :D

Hmm, I am using a VPN, but my IP shouldn't be changing... I'm not sure what happened.

But your torrents are definitely a huge improvement. Nopy seems to be having issues right now, giving me errors on most things and 3-4 hours for anything that actually works, while your torrent was done in 15 minutes.

First of all, thanks for taking this initiative!

Now with Nopy no longer existing, this may become the best alternative.

The only thing I don't really like is this:

I modify game releases so they work on all platforms, so instead of having to offer three torrents - I do just one.
Now, I get why you do it, especially when starting this service, but I do think it's bad practice for a couple of reasons:

1) You increase the size of the file. Maybe not a problem for the download, but if you hoard games, then i.e. 200MB per game does really add up to a lot.

2) There is an inherent risk from not downloading the exact same package as the game dev made. Not saying I think you add some malware but I do think it's bad practice.

3) There is also some liability involved. By modifying the package, questions about any malware that may be inside the package (even false positives) may end up with you instead of with the game dev.

You think so?
It'd make it a lot easier if I didn't tbh, there does seem to be a bug with Ren'Py on Mac atm too which is super annoying. Regarding #2 I grab the Ren'Py SDK's right from their website but yeah, it does leave that possibility always. Even if i wanted to insert something, I always could and just keep the filenames the same - there's always an element of trust involved.
#1 Yeah, this is unavoidable. It's not really noticeable if the game is 1-2-3gb+ but for the smaller games the extra 100mb does stick out like a sore thumb.
#3 Apart from the mac thing, there hasn't been any issues thus far - I (like to think) am good at gathering feedback, I message anyone that leaves facepalm reacts to see what they dislike etc.

I always looked at it as adding "value" while not really inconveniencing myself. Hmm, it's a lot to think about for sure!
If you've more feedback too please let me know!

With regards to the file size, I just checked, I have now 550 games (zipped) in my still-to-play "temporary" folder. If you add 200MB to each, that's 110GB... It's maybe not a gigantic problem but it's definately noticable. And, it's just unneeded ballast. People generally know on which operating system they want to play and I'd bet most of them just stick to one OS.

The only problem: you'd need to seed all 3 versions rather than just one.

With regards to liability, I mean the following. Assume a user would download your package and would find a virus inside. That person would not know if the virus originated from you or from the dev. It's quite probable that they'd hold you responsible, maybe try to hold you legally responsible as well.

This is a pirate site, i doubt the legally responsible part would be valid in a court of law.

I'm not a lawyer, but I think those are separate issues, touching different parts of law.

Copyright infringement is something else than hacking or extortion.

But yeah, the risk for rpdl is probably pretty low.

True. the risk is low but it's also moot, as I simply won't be maliciously hijacking any torrents :)

Requesting Three Rules of Life
And please add a search feature on rpdl.net website. It will be really helpful.
Thanks!
Done! I actually fell asleep while this was downloading REEE.

And please add a search feature on rpdl.net website. It will be really helpful.
This is kinda tricky because the site itself is 100% pure generated HTML, it could be done via javascript but I think it's important to keep the site as lean as possible. The /games/ page has all of them listed alphabetically though, it's definitely not ideal but it's the best I can do for now. This is something other people have suggested too so it's on my radar.

Also in other news, we've already pushed 40% of the total bandwidth for last month and we're only 6 days in. yikes.

eyy_b0ss Added a search feature, was super tricky because I'm terrible at Javascript, give it a whirl and let me know.

BaasB I'm so sorry I didn't see your message sooner, for some reason I stopped getting email updates for this thread and I totally missed your reply. I want to focus solely on Ren'Py games, at least for the moment. It's something I'll revisit in the future though, for sure. Sorry!

---

I'll edit this post instead of triple-posting like some kind of ape. I changed all links on my site for feedback from the subreddit, to this thread. It made no sense to use reddit, instead I should be leaning back into this community and keeping things closeknit.

I also posted a roundup of October, it's almost the same as the post I made a few days ago here so if you've read that there's not much point reading it - it's if you're interested.

I hate talking about this topic too but one important thing that I'd love to get feedback on is, what's the best way to accept donations. Patreon is great, it's simple and it's easy to sign up for and use. However, I don't want to fall into the same trap as what happened to Nopy. IE - all eggs in one basket and more importantly, at the whim of paypal. With that in mind, I setup an alternative via Stripe, the link is in the footer. Let me know if you think it's a waste of time or whatever!

I think you have to be careful, becauce this acounts at public places needs safty. And patreon did not save you in any way. I think you should move your projekt under a big ALt tracker with an open registration. Pornbay( or some tracker in the east like ru tracker) could be one: so you need zero money and the files were really fast. There are many of this games. You have just to keep it uptodate, anyone can help and you are save.

i think the fear should go against moral people ( bestiality, Loli)

Thank you, thank you for your efforts. Your work here is fucking fantastic! After NOPY death, this is a very good alternative to download our favorite games.
Please consider my humble request: "Back to the cabin" https://f95zone.to/threads/erastorm-ep-1-sandstorm-v0-8-gleenx-studio.70133/page-51#post-6892907

If the day does come that VN developers start lawyering up and handing out letters and complaints, then that's when I'll be forced to consider alternatives. At that stage though, they'd also likely be coming after sites like f95 too and I just don't see it happening.

I don't like the idea of treating this as my job, solely to make money. It's a hobby, that's all. If it pays for itself, I won't complain :)

Hey rpdl I am a new guy in here and I don't even know the abcd about torrents. I read your intro thread but couldn't understand much from it. So I need your help. Could you just explain to me how to basically download your torrent file and then use it in (for ex. QBitTorrent) ? I would be really grateful if you could help me.

Edit - I don't know if it's required but I am a Win 11 user.

Hello!

Yeah, in retrospect I made the OP pretty technical, typical of me to assume things. Here's a quick rundown on how to download torrents:

1. We'll use qbittorrent in this case as it's the most popular windows client and it's 100% open source. Grab the installer and install it.
2. Download the torrent from whichever of my comments you want.
3. Double click the torrent, this will open it in qbittorrent and ask if you want to add this torrent. Click yes.
4. It'll start downloading and depending on the size, will probably take a few minutes. I believe the standard download Directory is your normal Downloads directory.
5. Once it's finished downloading, right click on the torrent and hit "stop".
6. Unzip the game and play it, or move the zip somewhere else.
7. When you're all done, right click on the torrent and Delete or remove all data.

Rinse and repeat for next torrent. Just as a heads up, it's been a little bit since I used qbittorrent (i'm a linux nerd) so I might be a little off the mark but it should be 95% close :)

Mario4don

It's a carbon copy of the download, nothing touched. Feel free to post it in the Glassix thread if you want and if you need requests you can either comment here asking or ping me in the active thread.

Yo Thanks a lot ! That was pretty simple for newbie like me. By the way, which of the 3 torrents you had dropped of in the OP is the best? An done more thing, most torrents are available are only for Win 10 but I am on Win 11. So won't that create any problem right?
