Cause this one right here is going to be the star of a forum side-story this patch!
Brash, tough and doesn't take shit from anyone. I wonder how things are gonna go for her...
Anyway! Hello everyone to the first devlog of 2026! My year started off really awful! I got the flu that's been going around and for some reason it seemed to really not like me given how it knocked me out cold for a few days.
I was out Monday to Wednesday, but got back to working on the game from Thursday on. The theme of this (half) week has been re-writes, as I've learned have become a fact I can't really fight against. Sometimes only by writing events can you really see that they can be improved upon and remade into something much more coherent. I shifted some things in Marissa's story early-on in the update to make her foundation with Justin more robust and less prone to questioning and scrutiny.
When it comes to Marissa and Justin, I've been trying my best to strike a perfect balance between friendliness, chemistry, and erotica. It's been tougher than I thought at times.
Make them too friendly before things escalate and it sets a foundation of a platonic friendship, the transformation of which into sexual would be too jarring.
Give them too much chemistry and it comes off as unrealistic and a little heavy-handed.
Make her too... 'confident' and it feels a touch out of character for her.
So like I said, the real trick is to make them friendly and 'harmlessly' close at first, while sprinkling enough tension and leaving the door open enough for things to develop without anything feeling rushed or contrived.
I've also been expanding a lot on Justin's character, and you'll all get to know him much better when you play the update.
I've actually gotten a good brunt of the work done in their more 'developed' arc of this chapter, but when it comes to scripting earlier events that lead to that point, I've found myself being way more mindful, and re-writing a bunch for it to land perfectly.
At the end of the day, it's a dynamic process, and I've just been going through it.
That's all for the week. Thanks for tuning in and see you in the next one!

First developer I've followed that provides this much insight to their thought process behind the stories they write. I love it.

The dev's background is in writing, so that's why Dissonance is leagues above the average NTR slop.
Makes sense.

(Sidenote: I remember pushing back on your enthusiasm for Lesbian NTR before in this thread, saying I wasn’t really into it and all. I still stand by what I said for the most part, but I can’t lie, the MarissaxFlora scene at end of last update was hot as hell.)

Everyone has their kinks, and some might not like girl-on-girl stuff - which is fine.

But Dissonance's girl-on-girl stuff with Marissa x Flora is necessary for Marissa's corruption. The dev himself explains how Marissa's character would never be the typical NTR heroine who relents and sucks Justin's dick because he asked her nicely for the 1634th time... she needed to be corrupted in a way neither her or Jeremy could have predicted - via a new "best friend" that also wanted to have sex with her .

We're on the same boat my friend. I also not a big fan of lesbian intercourse in general in AVNs, but the fact that 1) its necessary to break her shield in order to get to the hetero NTR (as Filipis just said) and 2) its really well written got me interested in this one. Also, if you think that that last scene was hot, i would just say that the dev may have post an animation teaser of a hypothetical scene between the two and, ooh boy, things may get very heated ;)
