Is vitality just a worthless stat outside of events if it's not equal to your level? Also I'm only on the third area(The Yamabiko character having green hair is a refrence to the Touhou character right or was that just a weirdly precise coincidence?) but after the prologue bit does Sarah just never get her Sweater outfit if you didn't choose her during the home portion?
The mitigation you get from it is based on the ratio between your vitality and your level. If your vitality is say, half or double your level, you get half/double the default mitigation from it. It also unlocks arguably the best traits, so even 5-10 will be a major boon to survivability.

I know that 2hu girl exists but idk a whole lot about her, to my knowledge Maya has a different personality, skin color, outfit, and temperament than her. She's just been an idea I had rolling around in my head for a while and wanted to turn into a character. Small, darker-skinned, green-haired girls (including dog girls) seems to be a more common trope than I had realized initially lol.

On the sweater - that is... a fair question. I THOUGHT I set it up to update if not, but if it hasn't been updated for you I may have done something wrong. If you talk to her in camp, does she not have the sweater?

Hmm. Now to doublecheck, have you reloaded the game since reaching camp? Like save, quit, open game and load into that save? That SHOULD fix it for you (though I will have to do some work for 0.18 regardless). At least it did for me anyways.

Yeah trying that worked, I would've never thought to try that intentionally as I figured that I would be better off not continuing with a save where her not having the costume might be an issue later.

No worries! Yeah, I have some code that kicks in anytime you load a save that fixes a bunch of possible issues, including that, but the ideal would be to never have to rely on it lol.

So again, thank you for the report! I've gone back and updated the post-Metatron morning meeting stuff to explain that Sarah gets the outfit offscreen in that scenario.

I dunno if people would be interested in my posting weekly progress updates here, but figured I might as well give it a shot. I just post them on discord usually.

Anyways. Reasonably productive week! I got the new monster art ingame and Aspasia stuff sorted, as well as redoing most of the status icons, so the game will be 5% less ugly! Probably. Maybe.

Probably spent a little too much time on traits and aoe buffs/debuffs again, but it definitely benefited the pure caster allies. Sarah and Celica are no longer complete deadweight when fighting hard-hitting enemies, and you can get those aoe buffs/debuffs too if you have a bunch of mana to spare!

Finally caved and changed traits from 1 every 5 levels to 1 every 3 levels, we'll... see how balanced that is in the next few areas.

Also, did some new conversations for Celica (discussing magic) and Aspasia (discussing gods/vampires).

I'm kinda leaning towards trying regular devstreaming, see if I can hit a decent balance of productivity and interaction. Trying it for the first time the other day was pretty fun honestly, and reasonably productive. But I don't really have a solid plan yet so uh, more on that later lol.

Aspasia's final art is looking divine, and I have previews of it as well as some really cool sketches for upcoming art of characters up on Patreon if you're interested!

Sam romance start will either be in the upcoming update or the next one. I was REALLY jonesing to put it in this one but Metatron stuff took a lot more time than I had hoped so it's uncertain atm, but I want to smash the cute dumb childhood friend too bros.

Haha, I really didn't expect to put as much time into system upgrades this update as I did, but I am genuinely happy to hear someone other than me is excited for it LOL. Hope it's actually fun to play with! Balance will probably be a bit back and forth in the next update or two as I get feedback on which of the changes/new abilities seem OP/shitty.

Metatron though, me too man. I love her and she's a huge dork when out of her element. Romance stuff is gonna get super cute.

1) Every sex-scene with Ashley references her "skirt", but from what the illustration suggests, she´s wearing (VERY) thight shorts, what´s up with that? Have you written those scenes before you had illustrations?

2) Is there a walkthrough?

3) Can i mod it?

This game is pretty good, the RPG mechanics are a bit bare but the writing quality is much better than the usual porn game, found myselve laughing more than a few times. Been a long time since I have t felt the urge to skip dialogue like this.

I'm glad to hear you've been enjoying the game! There will definitely be more, I update about once a month. For your questions;

1. Bit of a mixup with the artist, will get fixed. You're correct, she's supposed to have a skirt (more akin to Sarah's) early on. In the meantime, if you go on her Badon date you get another outfit for her which has a skirt as well.

2. Not currently. For better or worse it's fairly linear, the current story pauses at Badon, character content is just however many scenes they have in the selector. If you have any questions I'm happy to try to answer them.

3. Yes! Much of the game is very moddable, with new traits/abilities/scenes etc. Some parts might be harder depending on what you're doing. The documentation needs work though, atm it's just pinned in the modding channel of the discord, but when I update it properly I'll make a point of making it easier to find.

Nice to know, also, I honestly do not mind the tight shorts, it certainly has an appeal of its own.

Welp, 'tis Sunday, so time for another weekly update.

I guess the big fancy news this week is that Metatron's romance stuff is finally moving along smoothly after entirely too many issues (which were all my fault, to be fair). I'm hoping to have it sorted in the next day or two so I can get to all the other stuff I want to do as well.

Ina art is also now officially in progress; there are some sketch previews up on Patreon if you want a sneak peek, but as always she'll be free for everyone when she's done(tm). Should be ingame within the next two updates though.

I'm still trying to get a feel for exactly when the update will be released. Given the amount of stuff I want to do for an anniversary update and TWW3 on the 17th I might aim for 15th-16th to give myself as much time as possible with no interruptions.

February 14th Weekly Update

Yes, it's a day late, but in my defense, I spent 10 hours yesterday streaming dev work, previewing Aspasia art, and writing a 4300 word Ashley scene, so I think it was a justifiable sidetracking.

Anyways, this is one of the best weeks I've had yet in terms of productivity! There's... a lot to talk about, in more detail than I can fit in one update, so I'll just summarize.
  • I got adaptive side images working. It's only implemented for Aspasia right now, to get feedback, but having portraits and expressions down by the text looks really nice! Depending on how people feel about it, I'll try to extend it to everyone with art next update.
  • Aspasia got a mountain of content, and both old/new content has been updated with her art.
  • Metatron romance now has significant progression, showing off a lot more of her personality. She's a cute dork, also fairly mature in other ways.
  • Ina's design is finalized, and jfc is working on it. She's so cute! No exact ETA on release, but should be within the next 1-2 updates.
  • I wrote probably around 18,000 words of content this week, mostly split between Aspasia, Metatron, Ashley, and Sarah. Wide variety of relationship stuff, random conversations, and by far the longest sex scene in the game with Ashley. Overall, about a third of a novel LOL.
  • Also, a bunch of mechanical stuff, most of which are probably boring enough to skip.
  • I did a fair number of devstreams this week, which seem to be a good way to make progress and interact with people. I'll be pretty busy this week, but next week I'll probably start streaming regularly on discord.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with where I'm at and have a good stopping point as soon as I finish a Sarah lewd scene + proofread/bugtest stuff, so I'm fairly confident that I'll be able to do a release in the next two days. For safety, I'm gonna say the 16th.

0.18a is finally out! Celebrating the first anniversary of the game (February 8, 2021), this is the biggest content update yet, both in writing and mechanics.

While it's been a little bumpy along the way, and not all of my initial plans worked out the way I hoped, we've still made quite a bit of progress. I've learned a lot more about coding/structure, fixed a lot of stuff, and added quite the volume of content. The initial release had a bit over 20,000 words; this one takes us well past 200,000! That's roughly three novels long, for reference.

Here's to an even more productive year ahead!

Changelog;
  • Metatron now has 6 and 8 affection scenes, exploring her character and pushing her romance forward. She also gets a conversation with Sarah, a conversation about gods, and (if you refused the moonlit visitor's offer) a special conversation about that.
  • Aspasia now has art, courtesy of the gigachad jfc! Along with the usual expressions and ability to get naked, she also has an adaptive portrait next to the text. If y'all like it, I'll extend it to other girls next update.
  • Aspasia also got two new conversations, which have a decent bit of lore and personality in them, as well as a 4 trust scene. She actually has a personality now!
  • Sarah and Ashley both have massive new lewd scenes, available in the evening and at night respectively. They are by far the longest in the game currently. The Ashley scene was partially in honor of TheTimeHasCumAndSoHaveI 's phenomenal review!
  • Maya got a dumb conversation because I was wondering how she felt about pets.
  • Most buffs and debuffs have been reworked; they no longer cost a turn, but instead cost mana per turn. They have been rebalanced, but not necessarily perfectly, feedback would be very helpful.
  • Many new buffs/debuff abilities added, ex. AOE buffs/debuffs exist that can affect much of the battlefield, like permanently burning enemies. My tentative feeling is that they're probably too strong, but again, feedback is welcome.
  • Massive amounts of functionality have been added to traits, and there are ~15-20 new traits taking advantage of it. Most magic and weapon types have 1-3 special traits, most of which only apply to that form of offense, but can grant benefits like increased freeze chance or reduced cooldowns for dagger skills. Once again, balance is WIP.
  • Arden Outskirts and Arden Expanse now have monster art, courtesy of the talented Garrisen! I really love how the hobs came out in particular. Unfortunately, the Shaman is still a huge dick; art can't fix that.
  • Complete honesty, I guarantee I forgot to mention a bunch of other changes and probably missed a scene
  • Special thanks to grim for help proofreading, Pavonius for help getting ability sort working, and jfc for helping me get the instant ability UI looking nice!
With the anniversary update out and most of the characters now with a decent chunk of content, I'm going to try to find a balance of character content and finally push the plot forward next update. The goal is to write Sam romance, Ina talks, and main plot forward, releasing... somewhere around mid-March. It'd be nice to get onto a consistent schedule, like always releasing on the 15th or something, but idk how it'll work out.

My hope is also to have Ina character art and Severn Floodplains enemy art next update, though I can't promise both will happen. As always, previews and sketches on Patreon as they occur.

Starting next week, I'll also begin doing more regular streams, first on discord and then eventually moving to a proper streaming site. They seem to be great for productivity, and so far people have found them somewhat interesting.

I hope one of the character's brings up the protagonist's uncanny ability to read peoples' emotions, expressions and body language. He wishes he had mind-reading, but it wouldn't be that much of an upgrade.
