Goddess preserve me, where do I begin...?

The last few years weren't (and still aren't) exactly easy for many, so I was worried as to what I might find when I came back; unfounded it seems. Look at you go! Damn you've come a long way! Give yourself a pat on back for me will you, thank you for your hard work Cryswar!

...And just to shower you a bit more in affection (because I can) I've compiled a grand list of hopefully helpful criticism, bug/typo reports, ideas, questions and more. (In no particular order.) If I'm lucky it might even spark a conversation or two, this thread certainly needs more of that.

Also please keep in mind that everything I'm going to write about uses V0.25 as it's base.

I can taste the CoC inspiration, but to say that those games are the golden standard people should strive for is a joke. The games are good, at least at first glance, but when you get into it, you realize it all runs on turbo assholes boosted by spite. It has made the games a trashy mess, but this game is good. Having the dev not be an egomaniac probably helped too.

I haven't tried to do a proper roadmap before, but I promised to give it a shot, so here we are. Going to try to cover my goals for the next few months and what I hope to get done, along with a rough idea of what, when, and where.

Disclaimer: dates and content order may vary.

General overview;
  • More commissions. The secondary visual aspects of the game could be upgraded (ex. backgrounds, icons, maybe non-lewd CGs, etc) and I gotta uh figure out how to do that. Otherwise, just the usual stuff; more lewd CGs, occasionally new characters/art, new outfits/expressions for existing girls, etc.
  • Wrap up the Deepwoods plot; this means actually having consequences and scenes for all the choices you made along the way, reporting to Selendis, more time with Svyatibor/Selendis/possibly Mara, etc. I also want to add some new characters sprinkled throughout the Deepwoods areas, and Zephyrmancy training, to try to show the forest healing a little.
  • Push forward with the main plot, going from Metatron's church scene and its aftermath to the post-badon minor areas. No chance we're hitting Astrologia in 2 months though lol.
  • Badon expansion; more dates with the cast, more Olivia, maybe more Charles since everyone seems to love him, and probably at least one scene of Sarah being a degenerate nymphomaniac.
  • More camp scenes, fleshing out romances and adding some choices on ally development. I'll probably use Sam as the prototype for the second one and see how that goes over.
  • More Rosalyn/Amnelis. These CGs are burning a hole in my soul.
  • AI improvements; upgrading to Renpy 8 lets me use more modern Python, so I can actually do that now.
  • Fleshing out less exciting schools/elements of magic. Personally I think that Pyromancy, Hydromancy, and Aeromancy are reasonably strong but could use more variety, and in Pyromancy's case, better burn interaction beyond 'just channel Smoulder and Enkindle lmao.'
  • UI improvements; ideally a new commissioned UI so the game looks prettier, but also just functional stuff like enemy health bars.

SO. That's the general overview. Now, let's try to build some kind of roadmap from it...

  • 0.26a: by Wednesday, some bugfixes, tweaking Heart difficulty a little, revisiting the wounded hob scene from Expanse, minor updates to cheat menu
  • 0.27: late July/early August; probably focused on Aspasia, Sam, and Maya for camp content. Some deepwoods wrapup. Probably not Ina. Likely some Badon dates.
  • 0.28: late August/early September; complete Deepwoods plot wrapup and add Ina to the party. Zephyrmancy training. Depending on how the Sam choice stuff goes, maybe another 1-2 characters of that. MAYBE the next combat area and minitaur.
  • 0.29: late September/early October; definitely new combat area if I haven't gotten there yet. All deepwoods wrapup completed. New weapon training/unlock. Possibly beta version of one branch of summoning?
Very much open to feedback on the roadmap and plans, or suggestions if there's stuff you want me to focus on.

Also did a minor bugfix/tweak update today, 0.26a; not worth redownloading if you already played 0.26 but ports the update to Android, adds some fixes, includes the 7.5->8.1 Renpy update (better android stability, apparently), one minor content addition (friendly Hob), and some UI improvements.
I've been waiting to play once more Aspasia romance content is added. Did any get added in the past 6-8 months or so?

Some are still in early development (or milked for eons) and don’t have a vaginal sex scenes, others have sexual focuses on titjobs, footjobs and other fetishes but vaginal sex, other games have gay content and finally some no sexual content but nudity.

Last time I played the game and according to the images, it's in there.

Divine Dawn 0.26/0.27 Release
0.27 is now out for supporters, and 0.26 is out for free for everyone! Both are pretty sizable updates, with very different focuses, so I'll summarize them both.

0.27 is more of a camp expansion release, focusing on friendships and romances. The most notable is the massive update to Aspasia, taking her from Whospasia to an actual character, but a fair number of party members got their own content expansions. Sarah finally reveals one of her Aspects for example, and Maya gets both a new CG and a lot of banter.

0.27 Changelog;
  • Aspasia gets 4, 6, 8, and 10 affection scenes, as well as an 8 trust scene setting up future combat upgrades!
  • Sam gets a 10 trust scene that lets you somewhat customize her playstyle, helping her synergize with various builds. There's a much smaller, separate scene in the Training tab that lets you change it at any time while in camp.
  • Sarah gets a 12 affection scene that finally reveals one of her Aspects~
  • Maya gets an evening hangout/lap pillow scene, unfortunately not involving her lap. She also gets a new missionary sex scene with a CG!
  • Ashley got a 10-affection scene pushing her romance forward.
  • Damage/heal displays *should* be less prone to displaying 10+ digits, but the move to Renpy 8 caused some more backend issues than I had hoped so it's possible I missed some. Please let me know if you run into any!
  • Various other bug/typo fixes as mentioned above, ex. Maya's 10 trust scene having expressions now.

The free update, 0.26, is probably the biggest in the game's history - a massive plot expansion that leads to the culmination of the Deepwoods plot, including a variety of new bosses, new/returning characters, and the biggest choice you've made yet ingame, with some immediate repercussions and some that will echo for a long time. As always with this game, I've tried to make all the choices valid - all of them will have up and downsides, so it's more of a roleplay kinda choice - what does being a 'hero' mean to your version of Astaroth?

0.26 Changelog;
  • A new area, the Deepwoods Heart. Chock full of plot, new art, and music, it will be a true test of your your abilities and your beliefs, with heavily divergent endings depending on your final choices.
  • Sarah gets a wholesome new CG and sex scene (night) as well as another talk (evening), both requiring high affection.
  • Celica gets a new Affection 12 scene pushing the relationship forward, as well as a shared hangout with Sam (evening).
  • Metatron gets a new conversation that starts off focused on abs and eventually segues into massive spoilers about exactly how thicc or bricc various angels are. Trust me, it's relevant to the plot.
  • Aspasia gets a new 6 Trust scene as your bond with her begins to grow and she gets a little bit snarkier.
  • Ashley gets a new conversation with Maya as oil and water mix into a big fucking problem. She also gets a followup conversation discussing her worldview.
  • Trait and now Ability dictionaries exist in the right-click menus, with better use of icons and separation to make 'em a bit easier to peruse. Hopefully helps for making new builds.
  • Chesed completely revamped into 7 new spells, while Malkuth got quite a few spellsword-oriented spells as well. Binah and Geburah got a few new spells apiece.
  • For some godawful reason a lot of active Charisma abilities didn't actually let you master them, which is now fixed.
  • A metric assload of new traits; Charisma gets a bunch that let you buff your allies passively, while healing magic (mostly Aether and Water) get a variety of specialized as well as generalized traits. Pyromancy got some love as well.
  • The Athame weapon gained several new elemental skills and traits, hopefully making it a strong option for a more dexterity-focused spellsword rather than a stat stick. Oh, and you can bleed yourself horribly for a short magic buff.
  • New stat icons! Also rearranged the display a bit. No functional changes.
  • Several existing characters now have new music; Maya's default, Sarah during her lewd scene, etc.
  • Several new themes for the Heart; there's a lot of new boss music to say the least!
  • Minor channel balancing; each active channel increases the activation cost of the next. More thorough work will be done with them when I revisit the mana system, this is somewhat experimental.

...You can really tell I was more concise in the 0.27 patch notes than 0.26 lol. Fewer jokes and explanations. Kinda funny how different they look.

Anyways, I'm taking the weekend off to recuperate, then get back to work on the next update early next week. Will probably focus on plot stuff, but I may experiment a bit with faster, smaller updates or split the big Badon/knights/Ina/Siofra wrapup into two updates. I don't think these slow, giant updates are doing anyone any favors.

0.26 downloads , for 0.27 you can get it on any of the usual spots. As always, if you bought the game or are a current Patron, you don't have to do anything special or rebuy the game.

Not a coincidence at all. The TWW modding is what taught me the patience and dedication to actually stick with making a game. If I had tried this 5-10 years ago, DD would probably have been abandoned 3 updates in.

At this point TWW modding is a minor hobby though, I simply don't have the time to do it much.

The only important detail
Unironically this. Too many dangerously cute angels and not enough time to give all of them 14 hour endurance sex scenes... yet.

(also, belatedly, vagisex tag added - I'll go over tags in more detail to finetune them when I get a chance)

0.27 hasn't been released on Itch yet, even for people who bought it. Is there a delay there as well?
Itch is just, ironically, the biggest pain in the ass for me to update AND sucks horribly for players trying to update, the auto-updater apparently sucks and for those not using it, it can be hard to tell exactly when it was updated. So I tend to try to post there once the release is confirmed to be stable.

I feel like that kinda stuff lies heavily in the eye of the beholder. I don't enjoy any of the recent COC/TITS type stuff, but I have fond memories of COC1 despite being left unfinished.

Of course, actually MAKING a game as an amateur turned out to be harder than I thought, but I'll be happy if I can evoke some of the wonder I felt first playing coc back in 2014. Hopefully with slightly less futa horsecock.

I really enjoy the story, characters, worldbuilding, magic system, and dialogue! Some amazing picks for the soundtrack, too.
It has a great deal of potential. I'm looking forward to future updates.

Interesting take on succubi, I'm detecting many influences here, but I can't remember well enough to put a finger on any. I liked the Kabbalistic system for Nether and Aether.

Celica and Ashley are my favs (they seem to have strong outward personalities, yet a weak interior), but I like them all.

Thank you for the kind words! Good to see you again, I recognize the name. DD certainly hasn't gone as quickly or splendidly as I had originally hoped, but I'll keep working at perfecting it in hopes of eventually getting there.
