Incase anyone sees this in the future after the the pixiv restriction on the 25/04/2024:
1. Go to your Pixiv setting and change your region to a country that isnt from US, UK or any other European Country and you should be good to go with seeing R18 content.

For other Circumventions:
1. DLSite:
Cheap Option: go to DLpay.com and buy points and register the points in your DLsite acoount to buy stuff

Expensive Option: BUY Bitcash.jp points to use on DLSite from Playasia.com although the downside is they have a markup price.

2. DMM/Fanza:
A. Use a VPN and set it to Japan (Please most free VPN service like Proton don't work and will be blocked so you have to pay for a proper service. I Personally recommend Surfshark or Express VPN). Also use a Static IP VPN connection if you have that option as it worked well for me.

B. Add your Visa card as that is all they accept at the moment and buy DMM points from the website to then buy any r18 product you want.

3. Pixiv:
A. Pixiv Request/Commisions:
i. Go to settings and change both the LANGUAGE and REGION to japan and you should be able to use your CC card to make a rquest.
ii. If you can't navigate the site in japanese then i suggest you get a browser extention that automatically translates the text regardless of which page you visit. I use TWP - Translate Web Pages extention on chrome and firefox

B. Premium Pixiv:
i. Go to settings and switch off R18 tag and change your region to japan
ii. Use you credit-card which ever one and pay for your pixiv premium.
iii. After the payment goes through switch the tag back on.

C. Pixiv Fanbox:
Paypal: If you are a old customer and created and added your paypal account before 21/03/2024 then you should be able to continue with the subscriptions you have. However if you just created a new acoount unfortunately it wont work or new subscription to a user it may not work.
MC/Visa: These are the only options remaining for international users using fanbox subsricption but with the way things are going with censorship and restrictions it wont be long before the have to remove this option too. Hopefully Not.

4. Amazon JP
A. Use a proper VPN service to access there website and create a new japanese amazon account. Make sure to not add any foreign addresses and try to avoid this as much as possible as if you do you wont be able to see the R18 content on the website.
B. Try to add your card to the website to see if it works. Sometimes it does

I know your probably wandering how you can get the stuff you ordered without adding your international address.

C. Unfortunately you have to find reliable proxy delivery services (Essentially a 3rd party/middle man shipping service) in japan that can collect your order and then deliver it to you from what i have research online. Although there is a caviat to this as you have to pay both amazon and the proxy service a delivery fee in order to get the product so the markup price overall maybe abit stiff. I cant recommend any of these proxy services because i havent used them myself but i just wanted to research in case you find this post randomly on the internet.

Well yeah, there is japanese leakers who are not effected by this. I'm just saying it would not meaningfully effect me.
Still affects you even if you don't pay.
If the amount of support lower, fewer devs can put aside their jobs to release games faster, and fewer can live from it and make more game.
So it still hit the industry as a whole because it means less games will see the light of the day, and less devs that could have gotten skillful over time will continue their journey. The only thing it doesn't affect is your wallet though haha.

How viable would it be to set up a Patreon or similar subscription based account that sells nothing/above-board content, but then give away products(games, doujinshi) for free? Prohibition-era style?

God, we really are moving towards an antiporn prohibition. I don't think we'll actually go that far, but it opens up the possibility that we'll be buying from the hentai yakuza in the future. A far cry from Cyberpunk's vision of the future.

CEO of NCOSE basically wants to end all pornography, citing Christian values and sketchy anti porn studies.

Operation Chokepoint, an initiative by the US Department of Justice, seems to have had an outsized effect on banks regarding sex-related businesses, forcing them to refuse service and thus financially choking them. Though the operation has ended, banks still face pressure from regulators, which I guess eventually lead to our current situation. Also makes it difficult to set up alternative financial institutions that would support sex-related businesses.

Lots of parallels between the adult games industry and sex work industry, in terms of how they are being politically and economically targeted. Creatives in the LGBT community as well. If only there could be some sort of coalition or union between these groups. Cue Avengers music.

Who am I kidding, there's barely any unity in the adult games industry. The other industries have already set up the Free Speech Coalition, which aims to basically counter NCOSE's influence. I guess you could support them and groups like them, since they are by proxy helping the adult games industry.

Also disclaimer, I'm not an expert in any of this. Besides google-fu.

EDIT: I completely forgot Steam, GOG and itch.io all host adult games. I'm an idiot.

I know it's possible for Canadians to set up cross border package pick up in the US. Since prices in Canada can be 2-3x as expensive (even taking out exchange rates) lots of Canadian's (myself included) have a drop point just across the border where we get our cheaper goods sent to. These types of services should be easy to set up in Canada and Mexico to help the Americans near the border. But now we're getting back to what was happening during Prohibition. We're repeating history from a century ago.

Does Paypal Canada even accept prepaid credit cards like Vanilla Visa or Joker Mastercard? I would like to buy games and CGs in their but I don't have a credit card plus with how things are going with DLsite, I want to make sure I can purchase said points via Paypal but using only prepaid cards.

All good, it’s just going to be a pain if I buy a prepaid card and if it doesn’t work in Paypal then I can use it in other websites like Steam and for gas .

Update: 26/04/2024
It seems Pixiv are starting to regionally block international ISP's from western countries in particular even i had to switch my vpn to japan to get access to the website but it wont work if i use my normal wifi. At first i thought it was only me but it seems alot more people are reporting the same thing on reddit and twitter.

Ugh, of course you can only buy points in fixed packages like gachashit. Hopefully they come up with a better system now that they can't use common western credit cards, because I'm not overpaying to buy something with points.

The CC companies won't dare fuck with Steam, but I wonder if they'll start enforcing their 'for the children' bullshit on smaller places like Itch and the lesser known crowdfunding sites.

Blaming DLsite for Visa's doings is barking up the wrong tree. DLsite got shafted just like you by a credit card company. What we need is more options. Then those options will start to compete and not care as much about their "sensitivities".

If your country supports virtual cards, you can try issuing a JCB/American Express. Double-check the fees first and make sure they can actually connect to the servers. The other alternative would be Tokyo Otaku Mode but unless I screwed up the exchange rates for non-JPY currencies, the markup is absolute theft. You are better off contacting a middleman.

Toranoana and Eisys both operate a full profit scheme. At least DLsite points don't expire, I think... Beware of Fantia coins expiring after 180 days (when bought from shop or charged with CC) or 30 days (campaign) if I recall correctly. Also, beware your plan expiration dates.

They also appear to have struck Nico Nico Douga but not Pixiv Fanbox. Looks like a pattern.

It seems that this whole issue with credit card companies stems from a lawsuit in 2022 in california. Before credit card companies could not be liable for selling porn since all they are doing is processing the payment. But this case although not closed seems to have caught some steam and is likely to be won. Essentially credit card companes were sued because they coud not stop the sale of UA porn on pornhub and the person affected seems to be winning the case. Ever since then they have made several regulation within each company thanks mainly to this one singular lawsuit from america which in turn affected every NSFW creators. There is also a standord study that recently came out that was shown in the american embassy in japan to several lawmakers and leaders in regards to regulating the corn industry. So yeah it seems alot of these stores are limiting or completly cutting off there international customers due to these regulatins made by the US specifically and unfortunately none of us can apply for JCB cards.

I got this info from the article below its in japanese but ive summarised what they have said above

1. Buy Bitcash on seagm This is the link =>
2. Go to Toracoin's "Pay with Bitcash" section
3. Input the hiragana code you got from seagm (a string of japanese characters shown under "PIN")
4. Make sure "Use Tora Coin" is turned on in Fantia.

Step 1: Buy Bitcahs from segm

1716324677719.png

Step 2: Download translate Web Pages extention if you have firefox or google chrome and install it

Step 3: Got to toracoin website and activate the extention (The icon that looks like google translate) so you can see the website in english
1716323460033.png

Step 4: Click the section where it ask you to link your fantia to toratora

1716323610063.png

Step 4: Go to Toracoin's "Pay with Bitcash" section and select the points you paid for. In my case i paid 1000yen/points. Agree with all the terms and it will direct you to the bitcahs jp website

1716323750986.png

Step 5: Input the hiragana code you got from seagm (a string of japanese characters shown under "PIN") and purchase you toracoins. In my case 1000 toracoins

1716323913341.png

1716324059560.png

Step 5: Make sure "Use Tora Coin" is turned on in Fantia.

Step 6: results I subscribed to hiromitsu takeda as an example

So yeah it works

This bitcash method is 30 to 20 percent cheaper compared to the crazy markup prices that otakumode is displaying

there is no "sale", what happens is that girls like Serena Fleites made sex tapes with their then-boyfriends and for one reason or another their ex started uploading their sex tapes, when FOSTA and SESTA are passed the responsibility to regulate sexual content became the site's burden, and due to the nature that pornhub then was 80% self-upload amateur porn, there is no effective way pornhub could go through millions of videos to determine which one is consensual which one is not, they relay on a reporting system, which takes time to determine and remove unacceptable content. This "delay" is the excuse they sue as "sex trafficking" It's especially doesn't help that there was a popular channel called "GirlsDoPorn" that actually commits sex trafficking, and since Pornhub's business model then was ads, Visa and Mastercard are warp in because they process the payment of ads.
