Do you think porn games should generally have happy endings, do you prefer an end, where everyone does or don't you mind?

Here I have to admit, I have not seen that many porn game endings yet, as all my favorite porn games are unfinished. There is only one, I have played until the end, Snow Daze. But in general do you prefer porn games with happy endings, or do like it to end in tragedy. By happy end, I first and foremost mean a happy end from the perspective of the protagonist. So a game, where the protagonist enslaves his mother and sister and keeps them as his personal fuck dolls, would still be considered a happy end for the purpose of this thread, whereas one, where he is brought to justice and the women find loving and caring partners afterwards would not.

Personally I don't have a problem with male protagonists who are killed at the end of the game, but in case someone "stole" the women, it should be another woman not a man. For female protagonists my preferences are a bit narrower. If a female protagonist wears armor or carries weapons, they should be able to kill anyone who tries to rape them, preferably with their bare hands or melee weapons, though magic and guns are acceptable. Avoiding rape by running away is not sufficient. I also favor female protagonist to be alive, 100% lesbian, sane and reasonably intelligent at the end of any game.

I don't think the ending itself matters.

What matters is the path you've taken to reach that destination--which has to make sense in hindsight. Majority of porn games could not accommodate that because their plot is shallow, and so to conclude it with a sudden tragic end would create a pit rather than add depth to the overall narrative. There can be unexpected twists and conclusions, but the journey has to lead up to them.

I like the logical ending. Saying that I would prefer a few possible endings which depend on our choices throughout the game.
So, it could be a bad ending - you did some nasty things and your GF left you or you endangered your/her life and somebody dies because of that - or good ending - where you weren't a complete moron.

A lot of young people today are like cattle, being herded around day to day by social media. Being told how to behave, being told what makes them happy.
DW_Mg6lXcAA7l3e.jpg

Eventually it's time for them to grow up, and think for themselves, to decide what makes them happy.
If you're still a democrat, you have to ask others "what is a happy ending?" If you've reached that point in life where you understand life a little better, and you've joined the republican party, you see happiness all around you without having to ask.
You take responsibility for your own happiness, rather than begging, or being dependent on others. You control your own destiny, and even share your happiness with your friends.

So, what is a happy ending in an adult game?
Some might want happily ever after.
Some might be happy if their one night stand is gone in the morning, without a fuss.

Some play games or read stories for the experience. Learning from someone else's tragedy.

If the game involves a character that is terminally ill, some players might get a deep satisfaction out of spending time with the character, and helping them to be happy before they die. Is that not a happy end?

Some equate happiness with wealth and power. Money can't buy happiness.

Happiness is subjective. What makes you happy, may be sad for others, and what makes others happy may make you sad.
For example if you make money in stocks, it means someone else lost money, that money didn't magically appear. Does it make you happy taking money from others, or does it make you sad?

If you have known happiness in life, you know that it is unsustainable. There will be ups and downs. The downs will be the most memorable. Without knowing sadness, it's hard to appreciate happiness.

I don't mind as long as you have multiple endings to say "Oh! I probably fucked up somehow" and then play it again to get another ending.

This kind of games make the players spend more time to know the story and what is going on than any porn video, hentai, doujins, etc. So if I will spend so much time in a game with only one ending, then I higly preffer to see a good ending

Most MC's in the current adult games deserve, at the very least, jail. I mean it.

So... yeah I kind of think they deserve bad endings, there are other times (very few) in which the MC isn't a bad person, but my god it seems they are very few.

P.D: I personally think that a MC that didn't have any challenge during the game doesn't deserve a good ending, but that's just my input.

As I personally have only played one finished porn game, the ending certainly is none of my priorities. I don't think, that there need to be multiple endings, but it's certainly an good thing if there are. After all, if there are more ways to play, the game is attractive to a larger audience.

polywog, you obviously don't know what liberalism is.

I think a game can have a good or bad ending or endings, but it'd be nice to have repeatable scenes once you've wrapped up the main storyline.

I know I shouldn't, but I just can't resist such obvious bait...

Literally every freedom you value? Brought to you by progressives and SJW's, contested bitterly by pearl-clutching naysayers and conservatives... So, since you're no longer subject to the Divine Right of Kings or at risk of impressment; you're welcome! Pay it forward whenever you're ready, just hug a liberal and tell them "thank you".

I play games to escape real life crap.
So yeah i prefer games that have a happy ending.
Multiple ending's are preferable tho most porn games i play are pretty much endless.
Ending's are uneccery, good gameplay is neccery.
Good fun gameplay can last few monts tho most games can be fineshed within a day meaby two.

After all villians are the hero in there own stories and most mc in porn games are clearly following this line of thinking.

Happy ending for the MC and the girls, no specifically "harems" or "world domination"...

Doesn't Porn, by definition, require a Happy Ending? I mean, with out the Happy Ending, is it really Porn at all?

I don't understand the question.

Someone dying in the end is definitely not what I want unless it really fits the story and is somewhat of a bittersweet end.

Jokes and the likes aside... a game must have a satisfying ending.
You did well, you should be rewarded.
You did bad - you should be punished.

It's the literal basics of a game. There is a reason games that decide to be artsy and pull shit out of their ass are pretty niche - the player has just invested X amount of hours in your product and for no good reason you fucked them.
A bad ending and bad events must be telegraphed. From very far away. People will still miss it (look at the amount of people surprised the dragon chick was bonkers in GoT), but some foreshadowing, even badly done is better than no foreshadowing.
Earn your happy endings is one of the main driving forces in humans. We believe (wrongly, but that's another topic) that there is such thing as right or wrong, good or bad and will get rewarded for doing the right thing. Now, real life doesn't work like that, but games have to. Games are based on rules. The player interacts with those rules. The characters, the setting - those are all subject to that. A character suddenly behaving illogically or not-as they should breaks the rules of the game. A rock falling from the clear blue sky and killing everyone is again - something breaking the rules of the game.

So while you can pull of downer endings and outright depressing endings in games, as a rule, those are the bad endings. Strip the skin of the player from their back if you have to, but they must have a way to get a decent ending. It's not about morals - how much the MC deserves a happy ending is an irrelevant question asked only by a specific subset of moral guardians (be them left or right wing ones), and every creator should just ignore them (since this is the only way to strip them from their power).

VNs on the other hand are more akin to novels. The creator has a little bit more freedom in them. But than you still have to abide by the tone and themes in them. A lighthearted sitcom turning in to (a sub par at that) a psychological drama is plain bad writing, no matter how much you talk about your artistic vision.

Ignorance a bliss? Good thing the world is a bit bigger than the US alone, where we not just confined to republicans and democrats. And gasp! Where people able to define and find their happiness regardless of political bias and orientation.

And here I thought the republicans seeing pornography as a public health hazard. Shouldn't adult games and such come under that umbrella as well? So, no happy ending for you? :p

Some years ago, when people created porn games just for the sake of creating porn games (thus meaning they actually released a complete game instead of an endless string of 0.001 bullshit versions and patches, even if they still asked for paypal donations), there was a game called "The Physio" in which everything was going just fine until...

So it was a bad ending by all means, one that you couldn't foresee as you were focused on your goals and doing 'the right things' to do in order to achieve them, but it was also a perfect one, at least for me. So yeah, everything depends on the story you want to tell and the way you actually tell it.
