I'm having this bug in the demo and also in version 1.38 of the first game, moreover whenever I press X the game freezes, but it goes back to the main menu if I press Esc, but that doesn't happen in version 1.36. The game is good but goddamn why do chars have to lose SP every turn? Gaining SP per lvl is pointless because they lose more SP the higher level they are anyway. So frustrating.
