As someone who recently started learning how to make HTML games, it's perhaps more obvious to me how little effort is put into some of these games.
And it's not all of my HTML reviews - at a quick glance, most of my HTML reviews are 3 stars, which I don't consider a bad score.
It's just that unfortunately, HTML games are becoming the bottom of the barrel; there's things like basic spelling and capitalization that you don't even need to be good at; just throw your text into a free spelling check service and let it take care of it. Hell, even an AI can fix that in one second:

Many elements of these kind of games can be improved just as easily. I know what can be offered, so I guess I feel disappointed when I download a game and find yet another clone of the previous one.
I know that people can do much better with HTML games, and I'm aware of just how easy it is to make a passable UI, write okay-ish dialogue, and at least aim for some consistency with the porn pictures. None of those things require any coding, so there's really no excuse.
Look at The Monastery. You don't need to have a coding PhD to achieve that.
It's just a matter of spending more time on each little element, and they start adding up to create something very enjoyable.
In most cases it's not my intention to be harsh, although I must admit that it bothers me when a game features paywalled content when the dev can't even figure out how to display images correctly.
