Yeah... keep in mind that the principle of P2P networks is not just about downloading but also about SHARING data. In some countries, this can have some unpleasant consequences — at least potentially.

Does VPN not work for this anymore? Its mandatory for anyone living in a country that tracks torrents.

VPNs probably work as they should, but I only know of one operator that has rules that reasonably protect users privacy. Besides, P2P technology itself is used by many market players, such as game publishers, software publishers, and Linux distribution maintainers. There was even a fairly major internet television operator that once provided a client application based on P2P. So the technology isn't the problem. The problem is sharing content of the nature we're talking about from a clearly defined OWN IP address. I won't elaborate further – everyone has their own mind, everyone makes their own decisions. I DON'T THINK there's a serious threat to users of artificially created content that doesn't reflect a physical person, but... who knows what the future will bring ?
Also people don’t want to download shit from unknown places anymore or just don’t want to download stuff period, especially in these days where storage prices get higher day by day, the last thing i want is to get my storage space full of crap that i am only going to watch once or twice anyway ! Also torrents might be useful to get rare movies or tv series that you can’t find easily on the web, not animated porn or any porn in general ! Besides you can easily find that video on certain rule 34 sites, you don’t need a torrent or any download at all !
