VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Dusklight Manor [Final] [Daniels K]

This is a review inclusive of Ep. 6.

tl/dr: This seems like it is going to be an interesting game with good art and sound effects.

The story for this game is interesting so far. I will try not to spoil anything here. Only time will tell if the full story lives up to the potential, but it is off to a good start by an author who has been doing this sort of thing for a while. The story does have a fantastical hook that will likely draw you in if you're into this sort of thing. If you're looking for a very romantic game, though, this is not for you (not that there isn't some romantic situations, but the MC just really isn't into that).

The artwork and sound are quite good. It all looks fairly professional. The animations are also good, though I've seen games with better.

The choices in this game don't really seem to make a lot of difference in the actual story. It is your basic "do you want sex or not" and a few smaller things that don't seem to make long term difference to the overall arc of the story. If you're looking for a lot of deployability, this title isn't likely to offer that based on how it is shaping up right now.

All-in-all, this is a game that is worth your time to check out. It offers a somewhat limited variety of kinks, so if you like a wide variety, you might want to move along.

It's a nice game, I wanted to wait until the game developed a bit more to play it. I was liking the game, until I saw an animation. Not to be mistaken for horrible animation smoothness, the animations in this game make the room move back and forth, which in turn creates an effect similar to being on a boat. Know what i'm getting at? You guessed it. Puke City. The story is well written, as one would expect from a game by this developer. The characters are well rendered with great personalities. Sad to say, but this game gets a 3 for one reason only, it's animations.

Play at your own risk.

I was looking for a game like BigBrother, i.e., Good quality of pictures and interesting. Looking at the demo pictures and the number of replies in this thread, I thought I might try.

And it turned out that my expectation was correct. The quality of pictures are very good, the girls are attractive . Unfolding of the story is relatively logical under the frame of a vampire and made me continue with enjoyment, expectation, and tension.

Great looking renders! Great writing! The writer creates this ominous atmosphere with tension so thick you can sometimes cut it with a knife. This game shot to near the top of my favorites list! I enjoy this plot much more than his previous works, and I didn't dislike them. Very nice game that I highly recommend!

Finally, a game that knows what a butthole looks like. Not shining like polished plastic. Oh, and it has the best landscapes in a visual novel I've seen to date.

The girls are really nice and none of them are stuck up bitches which makes them really desirable.

I still can't go over how good the landscape looks.

After some time of gameplay i was enjoying the game but i had a familiar (kind of bad) feeling about it, then after i finished it i saw that this was a DanielsK's game and everything made sense. The story is alright but as the game progressed my expectations were decreasing at each event, so if i were you i would not expect much of it since how Lancaster Boarding House and Pine Falls ended.
Like in his other games the girls are really hot, they have their own personalities and we have a red head milf here, but when i saw the other house's worker fucking her (its unavoidable to see it or prevent of happening) i dont want the MC not even in the same room alone with her, it was a total turn off.
The MC acts a bit like a horny teenager and the player dont have much say in it, he does some stupid moves but its a story thing and we cant prevent it of happening. In one occasion a girl that he barely knows ask him to do something and he just does it, we dont have a option to go along with it or not. The story drives you, not otherwise.
Its a game with beautiful girls, a meh story, good graphics and a lot of sex already (sadly not only with "you"). I even recomend you to play it, but this game is quite far from others really good games here on F95.

Conclusion:
Great Mystery story with a Touch of Horror and alot of Sex.
Just love all them girls and the different situations you will get thrown in,also the touch if horror makes this game worthwhile.

Animations 9/10, they have improved since even his last game.
Willingness to try new things 10/10, he has implemented random events and chance into this game. Like it or not it is new, and a sign of a developer trying to improve.
Coding 10/10, this game is solid and easy to follow, he rarely has a release with bugs, and none in this game I've seen so far.
Concept 10/10 like it or not he is always trying something new.
Overall 9.5 out of 10. The only thing I want to see from him is to bring the endings home. I hope he does that in this one.

This is a great example of a Renpy game.
Good graphics from the beginning with great landscapes, and perfect vehicle sounds.
Good initial narration, which involves a lot for those who like this type of game, which involves a harem with beautiful women with perfect bodies.
The sex animation is great, I say great because it has sounds of pleasure with the voice of the girl and Mc, and you can see the difference in voices in relation to other women when Mc has sex with them.
The developer put a kind of pleasure voice for the younger girl and another for the very show milf.
The game also features sounds of rain, winds, birds.
The story really does trap the player in a mystery with an intriguing storyline.
Congratulations on this great job, I hope to see more of this game.
I even decided to translate this game in order to improve its support for the developer.

Absolutely stunning renders, beautiful girls, animations, the creator has much command over the visual aspect, a fairly good story, lots of sex, can't ask more of a sex game really. Most of all the creator is strictly punctual delivering update every month and the game WILL be finished as has been the case with his previous excellent games.

Alright, I'm going to be honest here. This is a classic Daniels K game. It has multiple cute girls, nice quality of renders and an alright story. If this was any other dev, then I would have given this game a 4 star rating, but the Dev deserves a lower rating since the games are now just....boring.
Lancaster Boarding House was a nice game when it came out, but it dissolved into a drama / fuck fest late game. Pine falls was a good game, which ended up becoming a sexfest by the end. The thing is, each of his games start strong, but lose their steam after 4 updates or so.

If this is the first Daniels K game you're playing, then give it a go. Ifyou've played his other games, them you probably know what I mean by giving this game 3 stars.

Daniels K has been making great VN games. Dusklight Manor will be a great one.

I guess we have to accept that DK will never change his style.
We have to take his game with its good and bad points which are always the same in all his games, and this one clearly is in the same line of work.

DK Games are :
+ Good renders
+ Very cute and sexy girls
+ Good setup of story, the starting idea is usually good
+ Quick updates

= Sex scenes that are not great technically but quite complete with a lot of positions, angles and such...

- Characters that are not very clever to not say dumb
- Once the starting idea is consummed (usually after 2/3 episodes), the author seems to not know what to do next, and then the story becomes dull and skipable
- No much choice, no much involvement on your side, you will probably just have to chose to like one girl more than another, but it won't change your story, except maybe the final end scenes which are usually disapointing

To sum up, I like playing DK games when they are in the early versions, I like the girls he creates, the setup and atmosphere he builds at first.
But once the story gets boring, I will stop because I know it will be only worse and worse later on.

The 2/3 first episodes of dusklight Manor are not bad, it is probably worth 4 stars, but there are signs that shows this game will meet the same fate than his previous ones : uninspired and rushed 2nd half of game. And it is becoming more visible in the 4th/5th episode that the authors is starting to run out of ideas. Those last episodes are no more than 3 stars and I don't think it will get better anymore. So I'm a cautious cat, and I will put 3 stars.

This game is so much Daniels K style so if you do not like previous games I don't think so this would be an exception. Story is about a mystery ranch in countryside and tension on you to seduce girls. Render is nice game is uses real picture backgrounds sometimes but it not looks bad it is just interesting. Girls are beauty. Lewd scene animations are short but you get lot of good camera angles so it is more than okay.

I played Lancaster until it turned into a sex fest. I just played Pine Falls until it turned into a fuck fest, didn't have to play as long. I played this one until it turned into an MC got the girl almost on the first meeting. Finished demo that had a very very long sex scene. It does amaze how DK can just keep going without repeating the descriptions of sex acts BUT doesn't impress me even though the renders/graphics have improved with each game. In other words I'm not a fan of DK and won't be playing anymore of his games.

If you're looking for a porn VN this is the one for you. Somehow DK has done something the porn industry doesn't seem to know how to do. Have a sex scene more than 2 mins long without repeating actions and words.

BTW The 2 rating is for the graphics which are vastly improved since Lancaster and some animation. The story while it is there isn't really appealing since you know it is just there to get to the next H scene.

Just my opinion. I don't recommend this for anyone looking for an interesting, compelling or deeply engaging game. Some have all three.
