I think he works alone on the game, but has hired a moderator to run polls of discord and do PR with the fan base. This next update is going much faster than the last one

We don't know, and Mad Koala or Darkness have not elaborated further. The Patreon works. Unfortunately MK is not a very good communicator with the fan base. But the progress bar on the next update has been tended too several times since the last update. So the game is far from dead, but as for specifics I can't say.

Who knows what that really means, but with a pretty much zero communication dev that can't even access their own discord... can't help but be read as bad signs.
