Is this the mangagamer version? or the fan translation?

I am cleaning up my Mega to see what files are actively being used on F95, and learned this game is sort of a bitch to find on F95. The common name for the VN is "

" (the original name of the Manga from 2005) which was adapted to VN as "The First Tale" (2006) and "The Latter Tale" (2008), both of which were fan-translated. Later, the two VNs were merged together in one big VN called "Ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two" and released by MangaGamer (2010) as the [Final] version, officially translated.

That's also the name of the PlayStation 2 game (2010). The anime is called "Ef: A Tale of Memories" (2007) and "Ef: A Tale of Melodies" (2008). Then there's the light novel "Ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two - Another Tale" (2008) and another light novel based on the other anime season. Or something. It's sort of hard to tell.

I don't know why we have the 2006 and 2008 versions with the fan translation instead of the official combined 2010 MangaGamer version (unless it was never cracked, which is possible).

. I looked for about 30 minutes for a 'free' copy of the MangaGamer version and could only find a dead torrent and a lot of sketchy websites that made dubious claims with lots of click-throughs. So it might never have been cracked. I haven't seen any proof that it was.

Regarding Virus Alerts
These files will be flagged by AVG, Avast, and Avira as having "IDP.Alexa.51" (malware). This is a false positive. It's a label created in 2016 assigned to suspicious behavior, and not indicative of a specific malware. These files were created around the beginning of 2010.

It is the fan-translation. I personally played it through about 5 years ago and don't remember any real issues. Only that one of the characters was a huge cunt in the VN, and a total sweetie in the anime. Which was weird.

I'll just say this since it may be an issue for some people.
Opening Theme or in general,movies in this VN have a problem showing(Just audio and black screen) both in first and latter tale.I imagine this happen only in Windows 10 since I tried in win7 and worked fine.
I hope this solution works for you all:
-Go to EXE file of both first tale and latter tale
-Right click and go to Properties,and click the Compatibility tab.
-In Settings section,check the Reduced color mode
-If it has already been set on 8-bit,change it to 16bit
Apply,ok and that's it.

Warning! This is not the MangaGamer edition but the so called "ef Lite" with a fan translation made by "No Name Losers" (same guy anyway who translated the MangaGamer edition)
Since there are various benefits to play this version over the 2 separate ones well here it is
For who's asking why there's no installer, well let's just say that a pack inside another pack is not a great idea.

ef lite is simple the pre deluxe from MangaGamer, it does have all content merged + other stuff, since the deluxe is yet to be leaked I've shared the old version
