Hello, everyone.
I haven’t posted anything in quite a while, so I’m sure some of you have questions, and that’s perfectly fair. I’ll try to answer the main ones.
The first and most important one is probably: what happened?
Well... I lost my job.
Some of you might have guessed it already from my earlier posts, or even from the theme of my game, but I’ll say it anyway. I live and work in Ukraine, and as you can imagine, the situation here isn’t exactly great, to put it mildly.
For the past five years, I’ve been living and working in the east of the country, which has become one of the most dangerous regions right now. I worked in construction, in a good crew of people who really knew their job. But things here are getting riskier and more unstable every month, especially closer to the front line, and the stress of living like this is hard to describe.
About two months ago, as we were finishing up a project, the owner of the small construction company I worked for told us he was shutting it down. He decided to move his family to Poland and start fresh there.
I don't blame him, but it was an unpleasant surprise for me, especially since it was so sudden. And with that, I was out of a job.On top of that, it made me seriously think about my own safety. Living under constant air raid alarms and the regular sound of explosions is not pleasant, but, strangely enough, you do get used to it. But since I no longer had a reason to stay there, I decided to move to the west of Ukraine, where part of my family lives, and things are relatively safer.
So for almost the entire last month, I’ve been busy moving and settling in.At first, I stayed with relatives, just to catch my breath, and then I started looking for my own place.Let me tell you, rent in this part of the country is insanely high because it’s safer here. But still, I’m happy to say that I’m writing this post from my new apartment. And finding a new job wasn’t too hard, construction workers are always in demand, so at least that part worked out.
As for the VN...
I’m sorry to admit it, but I’ve had very little time to work on it through all of this. Everything happened so fast, the move, the stress, the changes. I know I could have written a short update earlier, but honestly, I just didn’t have the mental energy to do it. So I truly apologize for the silence.
Now that I’ve more or less settled down, I’m starting to get back into the process of making the VN. More than half of the new version is already done. The rough script has been finished for a while, what’s left are the scenes and animations, which always take the most effort for me.
I really wish this post was more cheerful, or better yet, that it was announcing the release of the new version. But sometimes circumstances force you to change your plans, and all you can do is adapt.
Take care of yourselves, stay safe, and I hope to bring you more positive updates very soon.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
