Yes the game used to be less of a visual novel and more of a puzzle game with sex scenes you got to chose.Hi everyone,
I've played through this game just now because I wanted to see a lewd game with elements of horror.
I was actually baffled by how short it felt, and when I've looked through previous comments of this game; people here posted screenshots and solutions to parts of the game that seem to have disappeared from the newest version.
I was also unsure if I might have just played the game wrong, and I tried to repeat it again, but it seems as though there's no more stuff you can see/unlock.
So the game really feels as though it were supposed to be something bigger, there were plenty of paranormal as well as conspiracy involved. The MC seemed to have forgotten events about what happened to his sister and her friend.
But ultimately there are no explanations, and the characters just refuse to provide explanations. The MC's behavior is also never explained as to why he just decides to rape two girls in this game.
Now were this intentional part of the story, where there are no explanations/answers provided, and you have to make do with what you were given to make your own conclusions that would be fine. But the amount of things that the story provides is so bare that it's really hard to derive anything rich or meaningful from it, other than to make huge assumptions on everything which seems like a huge shame.
Were the old versions longer? Is it still possible to get the old version of the game so I could play that instead?
Please let me know
You would expiriance the story as you explored the town whiel doing work for the restaurant lady.
That version of the game stopped development at some point and author game back with this more visual novel version focused more on story.
So yes it used to be pretty diffrent more of a rpg.
Its not that deepI understand where your disappointment comes from. But rpgm has really gotten to me. When I released v9, I spent an entire weekend testing and it didn't help. There are not just some minor flaws in there, but entire softlocks that break the game to death. And if I try to fix it, something else breaks. And that really pisses me off.
As you correctly pointed out all the variability has been cut out. This was done not only because I didn't have enough time to fill in the variation well, but also because I didn't want the whole game to be broken again.
A couple days ago I had an argument with my older brother about v10. He hasn't played the V10 game, nor any of it's versions, but I briefly described to him what I did. And he got exactly the same reaction as you. Here's what he said: "You think your game belongs to you and you can do whatever you want with it and do as you like, but it's not fucking true, once you put everything on the net, now it belongs to the coomers and doomers and they tend to want the same things but more, not less. Naturally, if I were playing, I'd ask for the old version first and then the one with everything cut out." He's right, I realize that I did wrong, but.... That's how it is.
Its not just "coomers" and "doomers" its not as harsh as the sentence makes it, people just liked the older version better due to how it was structured with how it was more open, there wasnt much to doom about since the artstyle was great and game just needed more to do.
This version could 100% work as its own thing or even just optional download or option in the orginal version, there was no reason to abandon the whole orginal idea.
I mean its a rpg maker any softlock can be fixed so i dont really see a reason to change a whole game because of that
I mean people love black souls
