Is the rule there for a moral or legal reason? I kind of understand the legal reasoning, since some countries get trigger-happy with the censorship and whatnot.

I don't mind them not wanting the games with that kind of content here, what bothers is me is that there's so many other solutions other than just delete all the talks people had in those threads with 0 warning

My guess is that they don't want to keep an eye on countless of threads just in case someone share link for the game, nuking everything basically stops that permanently, though I think they could just lock the threads too so people could still read the discussions

Nuking everything is basically the easy and lazy way to deal with whatever game will get removed even though we lose years of talks

Unfortunately, this whole conversation is off-topic and has a high chance of being deleted (every post that is about it)

Outside of porn, it's been leftists censoring everything recently (past 10-15+ years or so). It's mostly been targeted towards games/animes made in japan, it's been censorship in the typical fashion, censoring characters, censoring scenes, censoring violence, etc etc.

You also have the censorship that's been going on since 1998 or earlier, because the earliest example I can think of are the first pokemon games, the localization is terrible and censored to oblivion. I believe some characters/sprites may be as well.

We just didn't notice it, because we were used to w/e english versions we got back then, we thought that's how the game/anime was, but ever since a certain year, we've had the tools to communicate in the video game and anime community to share vast differences in localization, and changes or removal of scenes/things in games and anime.

You had tons of people that knew japanese and english, able to understand both, and compare these games and anime (mostly games) side by side. I know the moment I found out about this I was pissed, it's still going on nowadays, and it's a group of leftists in the localization industry for games and anime, purposely botching a game/anime's translation, and thinking they know better than the original author. (the joke that has been made is that they're failed writers, and can't come up with their own idea/s, because they're crap, so they sabotage existing franchises)

Then you have this push for D.E.I. , they've been purposely making women characters ugly, they always have these checkboxes of things not just women characters have but characters in general have, male characters seem a lot more androgynous, and you have tons more "inclusive" things in these games/anime, mostly games for D.E.I.

There are several examples of this over the years, but way too many people seem to take the usual stance of "it's not that big of a deal" and just want "fun" and "good" anime//games.

Yes, I agree those are important, but I also don't want my animes/games to be messed with in any way, I want them to be as close to the original as possible, in translation, and in non-censorship. It's why I've stopped supporting tons of companies and skipped out on tons of games. I have outright completely stopped supporting any game said company makes.

This also extends to a series being changed for both sides aka globally/internationally, games and anime should remain apolitical, and avoid any kinds of these issues/topics, unless it somehow comes into play for the story of the game/anime.

Tldr; It's both sides, not just extreme conservatives, or as they were more known back in the 90's to 2000's+, puritans.
