Yeah, they're very novel. There's nothing else much like it.
Yeah, especially in the art department, like how he handles faces. There being only one or a few characters with faces in each game is both a time saver and helps create the strange atmosphere the games have.
The hard part is the mechanics, but I suppose theres some ez workarounds in that department, as for the art side its not too grueling its just a matter of getting some basic templates for the main characters including clothes and then making the npcs and background characters. I do really like his style. its simple but very effective at portraying so much. Id say give it time. theres a few that may be just a bit tempted to give it a try.
