Want to play Ergi on easy mode? Choose Alf Build.
I only had to cheat on the last boss of chapter 4.

You gain a lot of power, ammo, and medkits by fighting. What helps to complete most quests.

Personally, I think Valkyrie Build much more difficult, as I need to upgrade the shields/weapons/runes for at least five captains.

I usually go Alf, but I have to admit, I am wondering if fighting using giant monsters, tree witches and your dead mom might be a better choice. (Seidr.) There has to be less upkeep, since half of them don't eat and the other half can eat what you kill most of the time. :D

totally not recommended Alf unless you plan to cheat. I don't have to cheat ever with Seidr and can handle every single thing at any difficulty without cheating at all. it's by far the easiest one. The only one I have to cheat was Alf because they are that difficult at ch.4 non-civilwar (I will say, I know I can finish non-civilwar ch.4 without cheating, but the time and the expense especially the pain was way beyond my comfort level). I don't have this problem with Valk because they are good at combat, granted at early chapter you're somewhat relying on crit to trigger combos, but they are nowhere as horrendous as Alf in combat. Alf definitely shines in production, but if I am honest, in all of my 12++ playthroughs, all it did was making creating stuffs easier, which I hardly find that relevant. I know it's weird seeing how crafting is the main bulk of this game, but that's just my experience playing all three classes in these different playthroughs. Alf definitely is the worse class and totally not for beginner. That being said, as I said before somewhere in the forum, if you have a good luck, Combat in Alf would be the easiest because it is that reliant on crit from your medic drone, once you through that hurdle, you're good. It's just for me, for that to happen, I usually had to empty my power first cause I have rotten luck.

The only reason why I crashed out on Seidr in ch.9 is simply because of a bug with Seidr taking Valk skill. I redid ch.8 which used to have the same bug, and I breezed through the combats in no time.

I know one of the LIs bugs is Borge's route, what is the other one?
Jorgen and Jostein. I actually didn't find bug in Borge, but I didn't romance him. I was playing Jostein LI.

Alf is only difficult in chapter 4 because of the low chance of a critical attack. This chapter is very unfair and there's nothing wrong with cheating.
From chapter 5 onwards, it's much easier as the chances of a critical attack increase, and I didn't need to cheat.

One tip is that you can use only Lacerate Mecha and Medic Drone in easier fights (chapters 4, 5, and 6).
Lacerate Mecha critical attack creates Power, and Medic Drone can increase the chances of a critical attack.

I think I used the wrong term. Actually, I think Alf Built makes the game smoother.
At least that's my perception.

Thanks for introducing me to the Canticle - really enjoyed it, one of the best games I've played lately, just way too short atm. I definitely agree if your going to use AI, this is a good way to go and the game in no way felt lazy, in fact seems to be really ambitious. I anticipate slow updates.

Dev did say that they may not release public updates and may be Patreon exclusive Chapter 3 onwards, but honestly may be worth it once more Chapters are out

trust me, I've been playing with Alf more times than I like because I am a completionist, and my fights weren't easy in ch.5-6. It was only at the end of ch.6 that Alf became somewhat "easy" in combat for me because of my rotten luck.

Ch.4 is only unfair for Alf, and non-civil war path (Alf on non-civil war path in ch.4 was the only time I ever cheated in this game). Seidr, especially Seidr, and Valk can easily walk ch.4 because you don't even need to make the ammo or med kit even for valk for the two rebel battle (You only need those for the jotuns and quest battles). Seidr and Valk only need valhala serum and rations while Alf not only have to deal with ammo and medkit if you want to use papa, revna, etc (And you probably would since making the mechs require a lot of resources, unless you cheat), and even after you get the mechs, you need to stock up on power AND ammo to fight (pro-tip, make sure you make the two power cores first and do not give it to Kirk until the very end because power cores give a lot of bonuses if your lacerate mech crit. It's a huge IF it crit, but I usually managed to stock up 200-250 before the three bosses (couldn't done it in non-civil war cause I can't even fight the first battles to begin with))

I think I used the wrong term. Actually, I think Alf Built makes the game smoother.

Again, across all of my playthrough, Seidr was the smoothes, while Alf was the hardest. It was the only build I had to cheat. The hurdle you got at the beginning really isn't worth the future production unless you specifically aiming for Revna and the rebellion. Even then, you can easily save scum the constructions needed for quests in ch.7-9 in the avalanche.

In chapter 4, I had no trouble creating the mechas because when I was in the Peaks, I bought a lot of wood, some chemicals, and created a lot of enzymes. In Alpines, I got a reasonable amount of scraps. And in chapter 3, I saved a lot of Valhalla Serum with Erland, so I was able to recover the energy lost when creating the mechas and focus on other quests.

In chapter 5, i can buy Power in Undercity for 50kr. And in that chapter, i can basically increase my time by charging the Power Core once a day. So with at least 70 power, I had no trouble defeating the wolves.

In chapter 6, I had no trouble at all. Especially after I upgraded the drones with microchips.

With Valkyrie Build, however, it is extremely tedious to upgrade shields/weapons/runes, as they depend on rare materials. Not to mention that you can only complete one Valkyrie mission per day. And most of the time you have to fight Jotuns with a lifebar of 1000 (yes, I reload the save when that happens, but it's still annoying).

In my last Valkyrie Build run (chapter 6), I couldn't make an elite weapon for the five captains, as I couldn't get reinforced alloy in the fifth battle onwards in the corresponding places.

One question. In Chapter 8, is it possible to see how many reputation points you have with the Huldrers/Exiles? When we choose a side in Chapter 7, do we lose all points with the other faction?

I am pretty sure you don't lose reputation point ever, even in ch.9.

and that is a lot more time and resources investment than you would if you play Seidr, for basically easier combat. I don't despise Alf, it's just definitely not easy or beginner friendly, despite a lot of people recommend it for their first start in this forum. I tried, and fell for it, and have a rough time because I don't want to cheat. Alf is definitely the class that I think really need a rework because I don't think they really reach there in term of flavor yet, which, here's the thing, it's somewhat fixed in ch.9 because there is a lot more to do as Alf because there is more purpose to your construction and just generally crafting at all. I will say if you play Alf, I think you're going to love ch.9 a lot more.

NOW I am getting to the bugs at ch.9
Let's start with the most important one, the LIs. If you are at Alpine, You can't complete Jorgen event because the typo in the tag that happened apparently thrice. You also can't complete Jostein (Because of course it's always Jostein who got buggered at every initial release chapter) because the train screen bugged so you'll just end up skipping it, I am not sure if it's restrictly to the Alpine or not. And Also, I don't know what happened, Jostein always triggered his "day" which is basically a limit to how many time you can triggered an event with a person, but it triggered before I even talk to him sometimes, so again, ALWAYS JOSTEIN. My bae can't catch a break.
Still playing chapter9, atm, but I think I faced a problem. Now I'm fighting Jormungandr. But I only fought 9 guardians, so I haven't completed the Guardians main quest which required me to survive 10 guardian attacks.

Meanwhile, while fighting Jormungandr, I'm on my 8th round, despite the main quest only required me to survive 5 rounds. Any idea why this happens?

I'm unable to complete Jostein's sidequest (Herd Instincs). Is ot due to the bug in ch 9?

In addition to this quest, do you know how to complete the following quests:
- Souls Searching (I only able to find 3 lost souls found in Gulin's, Sanctuary Workshop, and Sanctuary Reserve
- Lost and Found

Thank you so much!

I haven't made it to Jormungandr yet because the combat bug I have is so taxing. I have completed Jostein's sidequest, I think for that you need to fight an enemy near the alpine map (not the alpine encounter)
I also ahven't completed the souls searching, but if I rmember correctly, it is one of the bugged quest.
Lost and found I haven't completed it, but I think you need to roam around the world map and fight things.
