I don't remember, but I remember you have to be an ass towards them. I think I remember vaguely you have to do that from chapter 4 tho, I might be wrong. Also, I remember that decision from the herb area also lock you out of bones from Family secrets unless you're romancing someone I forgot who (but I also vaguely remember it doesn't work properly so....).

You can get a lot of bones in Chapter 6.
Four through fighting, two through Kare or Revna's quest, and you can also do the map quest (I thought Kare or Revna's quest prevented you from completing the map quest, but that's not the case).

And I don't recommend completing that side quest where you have to kill an exile.

technically, I believe you just need -1 (I remember it wasn't that far) with the exiles, and after that you can just bump it later in ch.7-8 quite easily or you can just choose to support Revna, I believe that gave you +10 or something. I remember it was huge boost, the only caveat, you get -10 with the huldra. But if you do the donate every herb for the huldra things in ch.5 (which you want to do if your patron is Freya), you probably have around 20-30 (even more) reputation with them anyway.
