Really?

I bought your game, waited a whole year for one update, and after the main release I still have to wait? Yes... Basic game dev 2020-2024 Buying games in early access is the most thankless task, even if the project is very interesting to you and you want to support the developer, because the developer just mocks the players with endless postponements, delays and additional fees.

There are two Aces. One that did Strip n Play with Valeria and Lena and the Milking Table - high-quality, cool, and the second Escape - with a very slow development process - I wouldn't be surprised if in the end there will be a quick jump in versions to quickly close the project and start a new one, and additional money charges.

Nothing personal. I like your work, but now it looks like the fall of blizzard (a great developer who is now thinking how to cash in, not make a high-quality project)

I'm sorry that is what it looks like... but hopefully you will see the three versions of Ace:

1(Pre-divorce Ace: Strip n Play and Lana, first 2 updates of Escape)
2(Ace During Divorce: Going through a ton of shit and Escape development basically stopped)
3 (Post divorce Ace: Still working on this version of myself, but I hope it to be the best version yet.)

I hate that I let a bunch of people down. I hope I can make it up to you all in the future!

I liked the update, but the minigames or ridles are a bit too much for my taste. Other than that, good update, but I hope the next one doesn't take that long.

btw, like the effects of the serum, would have liked to see more of it.

Very interesting game. You said this would be a very large update. I hope it was worth our wait

Well... at least I prefer quality over quantity and finished product over beta, but yes - this update has very decent amount of hq content.

Really looking forward to see where the story goes next and in the future. In the end, waiting for update to be finished is the easiest part of the development process ;) Perks of being an end user.

I'm ready to believe it, but so far my trust in the projects has been undermined, so I have no desire to support patreon. Therefore, at the moment my support is to purchase the steam version and nothing more.

I get where you're coming from, but his release dates do make sense. It's reasonable that the people who contributed more money via Patreon should get the game first. The game is going for $15 on Steam (so I'm assuming that's what you paid for it); his patrons likely contributed much more than that, as well as the people who donated to his Kickstarter.

I also get where you're coming with your other comments, because this industry is ripe with devs whose motives are, well, questionable. But I don't think this is the case with Ace. He's a talented artist (one of my top 3) who had to deal with a bunch of crap this year, so development got delayed. That's it. He's been transparent about it all, so for that I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Your comment makes me think of an unfortunate irony in this industry, in the context of devs and interested patrons, especially for devs just starting out.

It seems to go like this: Me, as an undecided supporter, thinks something like "Damn, this game has some potential--but I'm going to wait to subscribe until I see this new developer putting out decent and consistent updates." I think this way because devs who produce a good few updates then disappear or start milking are a dime a dozen. Or maybe they'll run into issues like Ace and unfortunately be forced to delay programming. Though I have faith in Ace and believe him to be genuine, I just can't afford supporting a developer only for one update per year.

But then next in the cycle (and I'm assuming much, I admit) is the new well-meaning developer thinking, "Hmm, dang it, if only I could get more supporters. Then I could do this full-time and produce updates more frequently."

So, the potential supporters never subscribe, because the updates are few and far between, and as a result, the devs don't get the supporters (and thus resources) they need to ramp up their output. The potentially great game remains in limbo. Catch-22?

Seems like any dev needs a really strong foundation of free time and funding to start developing a game in this industry, to escape the initial quagmire. I do think that devs who put out solid and consistent updates often find success, but it just takes time to build up a reputation.

I supported this developer for 2.5 years and after long breaks in updates, I stopped, because I don't see the point if a person does nothing and covers holes with renderers. In fact, the last peak for me was when at first a kickstarter campaign was launched for the project, it was a great idea and there were quite a lot, and after the collection another one was launched, this is not a serious approach. So no need to say that I gave $ 15, for all the time I gave more.
