VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Esteria [Ch. 5] [Royal Games]

Not a horrible VN game but a really bad porn game. Above average renders but seriously lacking in content. For some reason the author thinks he's Tolkien reborn and spends 90% of time "regaling" us with tales of a noble court of blah blah before having us washed by a pretty servant the game won't allow us to touch, followed by a hollow conversation with our pretty childhood lady friend we of course are not allowed to touch either and having us escorted by our shield-maiden bodyguard - who as you've guessed - we're not allowed to touch.
In the newest update - Chapter 3 there is not a single sex-scene. So if you get baited by the pretty renders like I did - set your expectations accordingly or you'll be wasting your time.
I'm giving it +1 star for the seriously high-quality renders - but the author is so up his own ass in his "super-deep-and-complex never-before seen fantasy world" that it will make your eyes glaze over before you even get to the end of Chapter 1 and it's certainly not getting a 4th star from me.

EDIT: As of Chapter 4 had to take away another star. Author refuses to acknowledge any of the game's problems and the characters are becoming too much of a copy-pastes of Game of Thrones characters.

Ch3 review
For a third chapter, this game is somewhat lackluster in content. It barely felt like a chapter. It has a LOT of filler content and barely any sex atm.
The game is decent though. Has a story, has thought behind it, and looks pretty good.

The storytelling is a bit simple and short, but doesnt really detract much from the storyline, so its functional.

So looks like the game got completely abandoned which was probably for the best in the end at least in my opinion. It was pretty insufferable but I did learn to fully read tags and pictures before downloading a game.

Ch2 Review

Difficult to say at this point in time. There isn't that much, and there's very little actual porn. Also it starts a bunch of things, but doesn't really do anything with them.

Had this game come out a year later, which is to say with another one year of development, at the same level of quality, with the following features:

• More porn
• Good animations (I don't even remember if it had animations tbh)
• More content (obv) but not necessarily a finished storyline
• Consequences for your actions, real ones, not that you get scene A or scene B.

Then I'd say this game would be worth money. As in worth a buy price, as in worth a spot on steam.

Let me elaborate!

This is a demo. It has more content than most demos, but it's only a proof of concept and an intro to the story, nothing more. That being said, it is breathtaking. Or maybe breathtaking is not the right word. A breath of fresh air! That's it.

Believe it or not, this FEELS like a real, honest to God, RPG. Role-Playing-Game. Not a visual novel, not a visual novel with houses to click, and rooms to waste time in, searching for the pixels that will continue the story. I feel like I can make choices, I feel like I can be whomever I want to be, and I feel like it matters.

That being said, it's just a feeling. Remember, just a demo. And having player agency means you have to do one of two things:

1. More optional scenarios, work for content a lot of people will never even see. From an indie porn dev working on patreon monthly income and a mob of modern peasants screaming bloody murder for the next update.
2. Have such great writing, that you can use the same scenarios, the same scenes (more or less) - and write things in such a way that the player agency feels real.

Neither is an easy task. This might fizzle out in 3-6 months. IDK. But I'm hopeful.

This was a little different than what I expected from the overview and the tags. It's a good game so far, but not the excellent game I hoped it would be based on the reviews.

If you like historical games, this is a definite recommendation. It has a nice, well thought-out story. The locations look realistic and diverse (although the renders are a bit dark sometimes) and the different characters seem interesting. It gave me a decent 'Game of Thrones' vibe.

However, in the end this is also a porn game, and the sexy stuff is currently lacking in my opinion. There are only three possible lewd scenes so far, which is not necessarily a problem, but since they aren't animated and the renders are pretty standard and average in quality, I didn't find them very appealing. Also the game has an incest tag, but so far there isn't any incest and it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon either.

So long story short: a very nice game with a lot of potential. But right now the main focus is on the historical story and I hope that will shift more towards the 'intrigue', 'debauchery' and perverted stuff.

I really liked the story, it is well crafted and can bear many fruits. Especially because of the decision-making system you have and the medieval fantasy that there are few games to without A lot of support and I will closely follow the progress of this promising game.

Very impressive beginning! Good content for just chapter 2. Very nice renders, varied women, and a good engaging story. not your run of the mill storyline, written as an adventure. A few things that could be tweaked but overall excellent start and recommend it. look forward to updates.

Erotic VN with a nice amount of choices and role playing options. You can be a spoiled prince only interested in chasing skirts or a pious nobleman or anything in between. The game looks like it will only get more complex and choice heavy later on. Renders are great, writing is not cringy and the woman are hot.

Very promising start. The "lady" & "house maiden" both have excellent designs, but not only them, the slave girl and whore also. The story so far is interesting and its gonna be fun watching the mc shape up to be a real man and take all the women in the castle for himself.

I hope that Innocent Play one day returns, but it looks like the Dev is coming in swinging with this game.

Promising
What would help set the mood is some nice medieval or fantasy music. The mom is easily my favourite character. Some renders a bit dark. The choice wheel is familiar, but unique for these games and fits the story. Good start overall.

Very early yet but the graphics are good , you get the feel of the medieval time frame and the actions and script reflect the times. For example if you kiss your mother she says she should not have done that... Not that you should not have done that. No one blames a lord. So far a great effort worth a look. Support this dev if you can.
