Came for the fap, stayed for the story.
Only porn game that did that to me was the Rance serie :)
Previous Caribdis game was already like that. He has a gift for developing, what can I say.

Also, if you liked Rance series Daibanchou is great, also from Alice Soft (creators of Rance).

Good stuff. Played through and liked Once in a Lifetime a month or so back and was going to wait for a few more updates before trying Eternum, but decided to check it out. Glad I did. Like the character models a lot...step up from Once in a Lifetime, and that's given I liked those models too. As I came to expect coming from the earlier game, some eepy creepy tension in there, but in my mind it gets balanced out by the lighter elements and keeps me from getting too stressed out. Liked it enough that I jumped onto the Patreon bandwagon to help support. Cheers!

Holy shit, this game is now the highest weight-rated game on this site. Just passed DIK.

I never play games this early into their development because I hate only getting to play a tiny amount of content before waiting months for an update, so I can't give my own opinion on the game itself; but I feel like it can't possibly have enough quality content this early in the story to warrant this much of a craze. Am I wrong? Is it really that good?

Honestly I agree with you, people are hyping themselves up a little too much because Once in a Lifetime was great and chapter 1 of Eternum is looking like it's going to be more of that but with more polish, but it is really too early to tell and people should probably chill a bit.

That said I get it, how often do we get someone who actually finished their game making a new game with the lessons they learned from the first one? How often was the previous game actually really good? It's not strange that people are getting hyped over it.

That said that said you should probably wait until the hype passes over before trying it. I really liked chapter 1 myself but there is not a single thing in the entire world that can live up to hype like this, no matter how good it actually is.

Like the comment above, it's only ch 1 so it might be a little early to tell how good it is. What I can tell you is that the tone and presentation is very anime like, and the humour is especially reminiscent of that too. So if that isn't your cup of tea, I can see you not enjoying it that much.

Why not try out the game? So you can decide whether its good or not. At the end of the day this is just a game, games are supposed to be fun, if it ain't fun for you, there's plenty of other games to choose from out there.

Is it over-hyped? Maybe; I guess that depends on what you expect from it, you would have to decide that for yourself.

I generally avoid first releases myself (actually I generally avoid anything with less than 3-4 updates unless I ma REALLY bored), but dove into this because Caribdis has a solid development rep. There is a good amount of content for a v0.1, and a solid foundation for the ongoing story.
There is currently a lack of lewdz, which really isn't surprising since it is story focused & v0.1, but I personally believe it is worth the play.

My only concern is that all of the hype is going to result in some kind of backlash; either fans turning rabid at every slight thing they don't like, or Caribdis getting a little burnt-out from the pressure of trying to live up to the hype. That is something that the future will have to answer though.

Not super helpful...and only my second post ever here...but personally, I really love the mix of serious and ridiculous that I found in Once in a Lifetime and in Eternum. That being said, it may not be for everyone. I know I've talked to some folks that find it breaks their immersion and experience and, since enjoyment is largely subjective, there really is only so much debate that can be made. That being said, if you've played Once in a Lifetime and like that mix comedy and drama, Eternum for me feels like that but with additional polish and experience. To be fair, since it's also in such an early point of development it's not a huge investment of time. You'll probably find whether or not you like it pretty quick.

ah for fucks sakes, I keep adding the absolute worst British accent I can to Annie's dialogue in my head when I remember she's from "Europe" in the game. Please save me from myself

I get the funny part of this post , but I think you have to imagine another bad accent because MC couldn't use miles and had to guess what it was in kilometer so he did not stay in GB .

Saved enough ?

It could've been worse. It could've been as bad as my case on the day the game got released here...

Me (thinking): Okay, she's from Europe and her name is Annie. What's a good voice for her and within the age range-

Brain: Maisie Williams.

Me (thinking): ...NO-

Brain: Too late, you can't unthink it anymore. Enjoy thinking about moaning Arya Stark whenever Annie's sex scenes come up.

Me: -_-

Unfortunately not, I know Canadians that use kms as well and their accents aren't nearly as goofy. Nor do they add "innit" or "guv" to the ends of their random sentences, like Annie does, in my head.

Also, just played this through a second time. Love all the philosophical stuff about what is "real" with Eva and the MC, Caribdis. Come December 1st, you'll be $5 richer from me! Such an easy decision to support this on patreon.
