I currently only see 3 ways in how Orion could get himself out of this predicament.
1. William just pressure Orion, he has to go somewhere else (not really fan of this possibility).
2.Orion activate his power and escape with Alex.
3.Calypso use her portals.

There is perhaps a fourth way that I could see but there is nothing that show it currently but it's the Syndicate.

5.Alex bargains for Orion's life. In exchange she promises to follow her father's whims and cut contact with Orion and the group for a while until 0.8 where we will have to "rescue" her from Ulysses.

6.Orion does the stupidest thing and tell William that he's willing to hand them his gems in exchange for letting him and Alex go (could be one of the choices you make at the beginning of 0.7).

I interpreted that as him just making a routine visit to his daughter and shit out of obligation but it could be as you say (though I'm currently doubting the idea since I can't picture any reason as to why he would do something like that. To control his daughter? He could've done so back when she rebelled against him, so why do it now, of all times?). We wouldn't know until 0.7 hits I suppose. /shrugs

Yeah ain't no way she's not going to be a focus in 0.7, considering what happened in the Collector Whodunit event. Girl's just as ready to pounce on Orion the same way our red-haired cougar did back in 0.5, and all she needs is one last push and words of encouragement from our horndog of a protagonist for her to finally cross that line.

(Not to mention Cari seems to have a soft spot on her given that she gets a mini-scene of sorts and a freaking headpat in this update when all he promised was 4 new scenes)

I didn't think about them because it's always the worst choices in general. And I also kinda want Magic to happen in the real world.
Even more now when we don't know how Thanatos know where Gem's holder are and there is the possibility that there is an alliance beetween Thanatos and William. Seriously Thanatos would be too fast if he is by himself when Orion and co have one powerful group, the WRE, and Nova.

I didn't think about them because it's always the worst choices in general. And I also kinda want Magic to happen in the real world.
Even more now when we don't know how Thanatos know where Gem's holder are and there is the possibility that there is an alliance beetween Thanatos and William. Seriously Thanatos would be too fast if he is by himself when Orion and co have one powerful group, the WRE, and Nova.

Until proven otherwise I'm going to chalk Thanny as being a solo flyer that has his own means of tracking down the gems instead of someone who works for William. The former just exudes too much "lone wolf" behavior for me to think that he would be willing to work with a group (though Cari could just surprise me with the contrary in a later update), so I'm more on the opinion that William is keeping tabs on his movements just as he's keeping tabs on Orion, likely so that he could seize the gems from the one who manages to collect them all when the time comes instead of having to hand them over to the Founder.

Or it could be that, since Calypso herself said there is no general consensus regarding information about her Eldari ancestor (possibly including his appearance) and she is the one telling the story, she envisioned Orion as a stand-in for her Eldari ancestor instead (which IMO is so like her given that I think she's pretty much in denial with regards to how she feels about Orion).

For me it's something much " simpler ", his daughter has been rebelling for years against him and his family and William hates her. Now that she's gone, William sees the opportunity to disinherit Alex, hence the visit. Although I'm not sure William's mind works like that
