I think it is strange, that nobody remarks, that Jerry constantly dies and returns in the game, while Benjamin died in game and dies outside of it too. I mean it is almost a running gag of Jerry dying, but still nobody remarks it ingame as is "well there are reports of people dying and recovering ingame later ". I think there is some plot hole, I am still not through the complete novel, still at college helloween, but yeah, who knows why Jerry is ignored while benjamin is a mystrerious case.

99% of the people who die in game are fine in the "real world" ... Jerry is not a special case, that's why he's not commented on. As much fun as we have with it, Jerry is NOT Kenny.

Benjamin was an in-game rapist that flouted the rules multiple times. Jerry is just dying because he's playing poorly, not being killed deliberately by the enforcement wing of Eternum. It's rumored he's related to Kenny from Southpark.

So this would mean being on the fight for an atlas object like on the "restricted server" would be also lethal if killed by praetorians , I mean I kind of see your resoning as plausible. Possibly not even then, depending upon who is behind it all. Benjamin was just an ass, close to the Bardot family and was likely found to be in need of "cleansing". It may have been Alex's dad, but - not knowing how far you have gotten - there is reason to believe that someone else may be behind it.

Also, he chose the engine because he liked the aesthetic/art style and it's a natural progression for him since he started from HS1 with OIAL (no need to start from scratch when trying to figure out how to make models or set scenes or whatnot). Plus you don't have to sell an arm or a kidney for a rig that could power it. /shrugs
