Why do the Android version of these games require the mandatory permission of 'allow management of all files' in order to run/open the app?
How are we supposed to trust an unknown app without any given credibility of the creator?
Then don't and play on PC.

Though renpy is pretty safe, as well as what is available on this site.

You're on a pirate site downloading games using files that are "borrowed" and uploaded to multiple mirror sites, most of the time by people not involved in the creation of the games.

And yet, I've not heard of one legitimate virus hitting anyone here, and the way people on F95 complain, you'd definitely hear about it if it happened.

So I think you're probably safe, but it's a weird thing to worry about considering what you're doing in the first place ...

Isn't it such a weird thing though? The software wants to get the power to manage 'all' my files, ie pretty much read, view, even perhaps modify them. I'm not much of a software expert but that doesn't sound safe to me at all. Anyones phone is a very private gadget, afterall.

not sure who makes the android port but the most likely explanation is because they want to store saves somewhere where they won't be removed when you reinstall the game after the update comes out

If you think about it, many phone apps want access to most of your phone. Saves, GPS, chat, pics, speech, data transmission, etc. So it's not that surprising. These just aren't from "recognized" sources, so your phone balks.

Edit: Also, your phone takes any function that any app does and thinks it can potentially do those functions to any related item on your phone. The app wants to make saves? The app can make changes to your phone. The app wants to talk to it's host? The app can transmit any data from your phone. The app wants to know what your phone is capable of AND talks to it's host? The app can transmit all info about your phone and send any of that info to anyone.

None of this is false, either. Just most legitimate apps only transmit what they need to work and be improved. Still, your Chrome / Safari / Silk browsers probably transmit more data about you than any other app on your phone.

True true. I'm still in a dilemma though, is a porn game worth risking my privacy... Maybe i just should just delete the setup file of the game

hello everyone =)

does somebody know if there is a general thread on F95 for discussing Harem games?

couldn'd find anything in off-topic and would enjoy reading things from like-minded people

Seriously screw all the remake crap that's big with Holiwood and TV at the moment, Eternum needs a screen play. The story is crazy in how good it is and somehow keeps getting better with each update. Anybody who hasn't i recomend playing from the beginning to see just how much foreshadowing takes place.

Caribdis iv'e been around a while. And you are easily one the most accomplished writers I have ever seen, keep up the good work.

I again revert back to my original question - why the hell does this renpy software need access to 'all' my files and even the power to modify them.
You probably dont install Apps from different sources often.

As far as I am aware the problem comes from the fact, that Application on mobile phone cant just request access to read "some limited" files (in one specific directory). Either it has access to (all) files on storage device or it doesnt.
Same with ability to modify files. You cant give it ability to modify just some files (in one specific folder). You either allow it to modify files on storage device or you dont.

BTW: Surveys from Security companies show that almost 3 out of 4 apps ask for access to storage device (and ability to modify files). Those Apps usually need it to function correctly. Basically it is pretty common.

As for your security concerns: Access to your files doesnt make you particularly vulnerable. Why? Because access to files doesnt allow App to send your files somewhere on the internet. It is entirely different category.
As long as you dont give the App "Full Network Access" (or something like "Wi-Fi Access") then it cant send any data away.

Only if App asks for both Network Access and Access to Storage Device you should be worried.

I just started playing and hollyyy shit this game is incredibly well made. I like the worlds (servers) we've visited so far. I'm currently in the Red Herring server, in the mansion part and Good Lord they gave me Fatal Frame vibes out of all things. I'm really excited to progress through this, and hope to see way more good stuff from the creator!

That point literally almost gave me a heart attack!
It's one of the best ( among all the other ones) scenes in the game, though I can say you still have to see the best of the best, just you wait it's mind blowing this game is dope.
