And to think I started playing the game looking for porn, now I'm totally fascinated by the storyline and characters. Eternum has ruined the other AVNs for me, I don't feel anything on the same level.

And I would also expect him to use some form of cloud service to secure his work, considering it is his livelihood and a PC or hard drive doesn't exactly need the flood of a century to break.

I get it, Cloud services can have problems as well, but if he's working like half a year on an update and has terabytes of additional mods and assets for HS 2 on his drive and considering he is living from that work...I would tend to safe it somewhere else.

Well it's a fucking update for an adult game. And stealing intellectual property from password protected storage is an actual full blown felony in most jurisdictions. Risk vs. reward is just extremely tilted in this case. But yeah sure, you can't really protect yourself from stupid.But that's kinda the opposite of "secure".
