Annie gets shelved not because she's unlikable but because she's... I dunno? Too adorkable? She's smol and nice and cute, she kinda triggers more fatherly instincts in me than male ones. Kinda the same deal with Luna and, to an extent, Nova. Alex is smol too, but her personality and presence counterbalance it. She's like a human version of a Pallas cat - it might be cute, fluffy and adorable, but it will fucking maul your ass if you poke it.

Hello everyone, it's been a minute since the last update and to be honest I might've missed one so I started a new game because I don't remember much of anything, this is what happens when you're old like me lol, anyway I'm at the part where the MC, Nova and Annie are trying to solve Gideon Cook's murder, is there anyway possible to be able to keep BOTH Nova's lol? Man oh man I'd give my left testical if this were possible hahahaha, does anyone else like redheads as much as I do???? take care
Can we take a moment to appreciate the most underrated girl in this game? I haven't seen a single "best girl" poll where Annie wasn't last or second-to-last, let alone top it...
Yeah the problem with Annie for me is that (with respect) her personality is boring. In addition to that, a lot of her attributes are shared with other characters (as you mentioned), especially Dalia, who comes across as a superior version of her. I sometimes wonder if they were meant to be one character and then Cari split them into two. Brown haired, childhood friend, short, virgin, big butt, Bad ass in Eternum, deep insecurities and self esteem issues.
Unpopular opinion: This update wasn't that good for me. As hot as Caly is, her prejudice and the elves prejudice against humans is tiresome and irritating and a good chunk of the update is focused on her kingdom. I loved the characters playing Chang's game in the hot tub and the date with Luna was cute.
So many pop culture references in the game, To Truly understand the humour of the game u need to have watched other famous movies or series, Like in this update I found there are references to Interstellar and Breaking Bad,Did u guys find any other references?

I loved this update, the only thing I couldn't do was play the Lyre because it's something that's never been discussed before, it's impossible to figure out which notes to press to play music. Does anyone know what can be played and what the sequence is?
I am feeling conflicted about the elfs as well. Mostly because it feels like they needed to be introduced earlier, or not be introduced in such impactful way. The story primarily focuses on Eternum and Orion's gang, so adding elf politics and civil war seem to detract from that. Especially if you consider that everything will probably be resolved off screen until Orion need to return to visit the temple, which will probably coincide with the elf jackass showing up so Orion can kill him.
It felt like it was made, in large part, so Caly have reasons to find that her home sucks and stay with Orion. The people under her, in political sense, were not even considering the possibility of waiting for her to wake up. The political marriage as well as the tournament, was to show that Orion was better candidates as partners than anyone else. Magic being blocked by sex, seem like excuse for lewd scene, not that i mind it.
Overall the elf portion of the updated can be see in two ways for me. Overly long date, which cement Caly status as LI rather than side character. Lore dump regarding the temple, to which we will most likely return later.
The whole lore dump thing makes me dislike it because it feels like plot device. I mean, do we really need the elfs? If Calypso was, say, bracelet that allows it's owner to open portals and give them magical powers, will anything change story wise? The elfs weren't really needed, besides providing closure to Caly. Adding the elfs is a bit much, because they will either become larger and larger focus as the final updates come near, or nearly everything will be resolved by Calypso in which case this huge portions didn't have as much narrative impact. Specifically giving faces and personalities to Calypso opposition, rather than them being faceless masses, seem like waste, if nothing comes out of it.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the most underrated girl in this game? I haven't seen a single "best girl" poll where Annie wasn't last or second-to-last, let alone top it, but let's look at a few reasons why she should be considered best girl:
I can totally understand why she isn't a lot of people's favorite. Annie was given the short end of the stick in many aspects, including her lack of compelling backstory/central conflict like Luna and Alex, being the "petite" archetype in a harem porn game, having a considerable chunk of her screentime being scared/anxious/not doing much (The Red Herring, Andromeda date, World War Server... it kinda became a running gag in the game lol).
Hell, even her biggest appeal, being the innocent, "too kind for this world", "must protecc" chracter archetype sometimes get overshadowed by Luny who has the exact same appeal but also with a more compelling backstory (thus a more reasonable/relatable explanation for her slow lewd-scene progression), and also having (what I assume is) a bodytype that's conventionally more appealing to a wider fanbase than Annie's. It also doesn't help that Luny has helped Orion and contributed to the overall plot just as much
But the next time you forget just how great of a girl Annie is, remember how much she has helped Orion thus far and how much she has contributed to moving the plot forward. Annie and Luny both share the "best girl" crown in my heart, it's impossible to choose just one. And I can't wait until we get the 3some scene with them.
Now this I can get behind. Annie is easily the best girl for me. I have no clue why she is always polling at the bottom end by everyone else. She is the sweetest and most affectionate girl, but I agree, I think she doesn't have the interesting backstory and conflict like the rest of the girls do, and Luna (and Dalia to some regard) fill the same role/archetype as her.
Her body is my favourite of the bunch, too. Those hips drive me wild.
I didn't know that about her favourite movie in the Profile section. That is such a sweet little touch that Cari added and, as you said, speaks a lot about her and her relationship with us.
When she started crying in this last update, I wanted to reach into the screen and give her a big hug.
I also wish we had gotten a little something from her in this update. I know she is in the UK, but she did manage to send us a selfie in the snow. It would have been cool if we also got a nice lewd selfie to keep us satisfied while she was away.

well, It's an optional choice if I remember right, but I think Cari made reference to it that it might be used in a lewd scene in the future, but I'm sure Dorfnutter , heard or read something about it, and can confirm or deny is my memories right or wrong

You can't win that one. Period. If you play something - they'll be horrified how shit it is. If you play a couple notes - they'll be "THAT'S IT? ARE YOU MOCKING?" or something like that. You need to not fuck up poetry, choose the correct painting, and ace the archery. And pray gods forgive the unspeakable horrors you did to that poor instrument.
I'm waiting for someone to upload a video of them playing something good on the lyre section.
I know where supposed to fail, but I've seen people make music using crazier things than a handful of notes you have to hit with your mouse. I got some okay sounding "music" but I have neither the skill nor patients to do anything good with it.
A common opinion (including here) is that Annie is just the childhood friend: shy and cute, but that's all, it's something they've seen before. Some even considered her useless. Boring, right?
NOPE.
The very point of her character is to make it look like that's all she is, while being that and much more. People would appreciate her (and Caribdis' writing) a lot more if they read thoroughly and between the lines, something that Eternum is well worthy of.
Much of Annie's contributions are overlooked, but not because they're insignificant.
Both in-game and IRL, nobody notices when Annie gives Orion another $880, because Orion barely even makes note of it; she's just doing exactly as you'd expect, it's her character.
The initial $1500 from Annie is much more significant than she tries to play it off as; dumbass Orion has just moved to another continent WITHOUT ANY SPENDING MONEY, yet Annie already knows what he needs and is prepared to back him up, before Orion even realising he needed help in the first place.
I've never seen anyone mention how essential Annie is in so many ways, for example in getting Penny to join the harem.
It's Annie that sparks Penny's interest in Eternum (by her excited retelling of the Ion adventure with Orion).
Then after Penny witnesses Annie's confidence in and appreciation of Orion, she's comfortable enough to invite him to her first photoshoot. Annie's (thus far unrequited) love for Orion is what leads to Penny cucking her LOL, poor girl...
Functionally, Annie is different to the other LIs in that she has the additional responsibility to help you understand what is happening or to advance the plot. (e.g. the game introduction, first Eternum experience in Ion, Andromeda chibi recap...)
This isn't the most exciting, yet it's the most important to have a coherent story.
Just like when you tell a joke; the laughs follow the punchline, but a punchline is nothing without the setup.
Honestly I haven't done a good enough job of showing her accolades and contributions to the group here, but a simple half-assed appreciation post of mine can't do her, and Caribdis, justice so I think I'll keep her real achievements to myself until v0.9 goes public.
Alex is smol too, but her personality and presence counterbalance it. She's like a human version of a Pallas cat - it might be cute, fluffy and adorable, but it will fucking maul your ass if you poke it.
The difference between Annie and Alex is this:
If Orion pokes Alex, he'll get mauled.
If Orion pokes Annie, she'll laugh.
If Orion gets mauled, Alex would laugh.
If Orion gets mauled, Annie
