He has depth, and he has things keeping him in place. Caribdis made the right choice having that happen to Orion. It gave him a lesson more AVN protagonists ought to learn. Once again, Orion Richards and Kei Hahn are some of the only AVN protagonists I genuinely admire, because they're written to be actually good dudes. Y'know?

I wouldn't call Orion a genuinely good guy tho. Man is an absolute horndog and has some streaks of arrogance that blew in his face at the end of 0.7. Only after that did he got humbled, though IMO that arrogance hasn't fully faded away and it will prolly take some time before he grows out of it.
Caribdis posts progress updates at least monthly on Discord. He makes about 10% progress per month with his last update 38% complete. I'd guess we are about 6 months out until V 0.9,

This is my favorite reply in on this page. The thing about Orion's arrogance is, it's a slow progression throughout the game. So, if you play the game at a normal pace, you get eased into it over time, so you don't notice it, or at least don't notice it as much. But, if you start up a new game and skip all the way to when Orion talks about himself while staring at his own reflection in Chinatown in Kredon in 0.7, it is baffling how full of himself he is. So, I agree that Orion needed that to happen to him. Caribdis made the right call. And I was really happy for Orion in 0.8. My man redeemed himself.
Orion has a lot going for himself. He gained a ripped physique essentially overnight (and for free). At the intro, he's got an overseas scholarship to Kredon from a foreign country, he's near or at the top of his academic class. He's likeable, funny, charismatic, and has a large & functional extended, albeit adopted, family. That is excluding two living parents IIRC even though they seem relatively absent.
Wait hold on. For context, I haven't played nor seen any of 0.8 past Annie's scene with Room Service. I am completely blind to whatever happens after that. Do Orion and Jerry not become cool with each other? I was always under the impression that they did. Based on what Reddit has said, I always thought Jerry became a much more likable guy who worked with Orion a lot better in 0.8. Does that not happen? Did my boy Jerry, who never did anything wrong, not become cool with Orion? D:
