So I don't really buy that the genocide is referring to the Xenomorph culling. Could be wrong, but eh, we'll see I guess.
I don't buy it, either. I think it's going to be something way more brutal and personal.

Another potential event would be the massacre of the WRE-ERE alliance against the Xenomorphs or anything that Nan and the group would not see coming. Would be horrifying to see if so.
Yep, that would indeed qualify as personal and brutal. People we care about, not random NPCs.

Feels like the way the Syndicate guy enumerated the events is how they would go in order tho...

Like he mentioned Hyril'ar which is basically where Orion and Caly end up by the end of this update and where the first quarter of next update likely takes place. It's then followed by "the genocide," so that event could follow right after, then the loss of Orion's loved ones and the end of everything, which sound like bad endings (tho Cari gave warning on Discord that 0.9 or 0.10's cliffhanger is going to be just as brutal as 0.7's, so the "loss of loved ones" thing could happen then or something close to it happens which Orion will likely try to prevent).

So I don't really buy that the genocide is referring to the Xenomorph culling. Could be wrong, but eh, we'll see I guess.
I actually did not remember the specifics of what this guy stated. It does seem to indicate a sequence of events. Indicating an inevitability and a preventability of these events is contradictory, therefore, seems to allude to a choice to be made as well as the ability to reverse that choice.

From the way the guy says it, and other comments from other characters, I'm under the impression we're heading into time loop territory, hence why it's both inevitable (it already happened) and preventable (could be prevented in this iteration of the loop).

Yep, quite possible. Or due to choices that the MC makes, a set of events will occur that he may not like, leading him to make other choices he also may not like. Hearkens back to what The Founder was asking him about whether he would sacrifice innocents for his loved ones and how that is considered helping others...

Could also be prescience/future sight territory since the Syndicate - like Idriel - seems to be associated with Limbo, and we know from Idriel's infodump that that place is disconnected from the normal flow of time so it makes sense why they may have knowledge of both the inevitable and the preventable (though due to being disconnected from normal time their actions may not have any lasting effects hence why they need people like Orion to make said lasting choices).

Edit: Also future sight and prophecy lines up with the whole Greek myth theming of the entire story so far, what with their stories basically being about people trying to fight against prophecy and shit (and mostly failing).

I had noticed a lot of Greek terminology and names, such as the nymph Calypso, a name indicating "to keep hidden," from an island called Ogygia who trapped Odysseus for seven years. Also Orion, The Hunter. Also, connections with Alex's fascination with constellations, of which many are named after Greek figures.

I also have a bit of a theory regarding the sacrifice of innocents or loved ones that The Founder indicated. The MC has Polyjuice potion and a Xerox artifact. I get the feeling that someone is going to use the Polyjuice potion to appear as Calypso or Calypso to appear as someone else to hide her (to keep hidden), and the Xerox Artifact will be used to sacrifice someone without actually sacrificing them for real. This would fulfill the entire change of expected events that Idriel keeps bringing up as a coin toss that always comes up heads until the MC states tails for instance. It would be hilarious for Calypso to be captured again only to wind up not actually being the real Calypso while the real Calypso is hidden as someone else and at the MC's side.

Yeah, about that...

The brothel madam from our first Eternum adventure was named Ambrose - which means immortal. A name that I may have seen in-game once or twice... :sneaky:

Interesting. I would think it would simply imply a bad ending if it were not taken and used. All these possibilities that are not to be used... sad.
Thats the thing, you cannot really do a bad Ending like this. Bad Endings are totally fine, but they should basically happen relatively quickly so that people can load a previous save and do a different decision (this will obviously not work for people who only use one savefile and overwrite it all the time).

Imagine you get a bad ending at the end of the story because of a decision you have done months or years ago a few Updates earlier. Would be very frustrating.

Equally frustrating to obtain an artifact that has no use. It just becomes a decoration at that point.

Could you tell me? With a Spoiler of course.

I use a Walkthrough for Eternum anyway. I also watch the wrong scenes and IMO most choices are super easy, but some might be a bit cryptic.

Oh it does have a use. It just isn't going to be used for the main story and instead will be used for a lewd scene in the future (as was heavily implied by the Collector himself back then).
Yeah, I figured that. I think so much more could have been done with it though. Missed opportunities in storytelling. I have no doubt there will be something interesting in store either way though.

It's implied by Cari on Discord that taking the Founder's artifact will lead to a bad ending in the future.
Ok, so there is no bad ending for it yet. The way it was worded it sounded like there is already a Bad Ending which happens way after the respective choice.
(But then again, I think this is a very obvious choice)
